I only have her Greatest Hits cd. My favorites are "All Is Full Of Love", "Pagan Poetry", "Army Of Me" and "Play Dead." I saw one video for a song from the cd before her newest I think, the one where it's all vocals and no instruments, did not like it at all heh. Her newest is with the kids playing horns right? It's ok but I haven't really looked into it. Ah here's the vid I saw, "Where is the Line" from Medulla. Everything in that song is vocals. I love that song (as for most of the songs off that album). The horns weren't really added to the Volta (her newest album) songs till the tour. a lot of songs have horns in them, but she hired a group of icelantic girls to play on tour with her. the "volta sound" she said was more about the sounds of "plucking" instruments. My reaction after seeing that video:  
In a good way, of course.  I have probably three of her full albums and a concert. Even though there's songs I would skip, I love her work.
She takes a lot more risks, and I know it's not quite the same, but I kinda group her along with the styles of Portishead, Massive Attack and so on. So much emotion and mood to their work. |
