Really?
Which artists/albums in particular?

I mostly just listen to Snoop, Dre, and Coolio. Dr. Dre's The Chronic is one of my favorite albums (regardless of genre). I just got into G-funk recently and have also dabbled in N.W.A. and Da Brat. Why? Do you have any suggestions of better or more obscure G-funk artists?

You may enjoy a lot of the Parliament, Funkadelic, Curtis Mayfield, and Isley Brothers songs from which they sampled.

Oops, I forgot to mention Boosty's Rubber Band! Easy-E sampled them almost exclusively.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T62XibPMlXw (contains adult language of an intimate nature...and a mindblowing bass solo.)

I find it sad that I know about Bootsy Collins and Parliament solely from watching The Mighty Boosh.

Gotta start somewhere. I was introduced to the P-Funk from the movie PCU and Ice Cube's "Bop Gun."

I got started on classical music through Looney Tunes.

So I heard the rumor on the internet is the tour this fall is going to be Say Anything, Saves the Day, Eisley, Motion City Soundtrack and Limbeck?

Might just be a load of crap... no idea. Not even sure if I should be posting this in case it's true. And if it's true... *disappointed sigh*

Oh my....

Well if it's true, at least I know I won't have to convince someone to go with me to this one. My one friend loves two of those bands and her boyfriend loves another. The only one we don't have covered is Limbeck (I don't know them).

Interesting, very interesting! If nothing else, that means that they will maybe come on early in the set!

Fight started, fight resolved, everyone loves everyone else, all before I even read this thread. Laughing Funny stuff. And yes, Hannah is one of my favorites at the LC. She sometimes tells it like it is, but sometimes that is what is called for.

As for the thread, I sincerely hope they stop touring with the punk bands (man, punk sure sucks compared to 20 years ago), and try touring with a more complimentary band. But of course, they gotta do what they gotta do. As for Say Anything, I don't know enough about them to say ... anything...

^20 years ago Eisely on a punk tour would be even more surreal Laughing On the other hand this new record might just be more punk, I mean how many twitpics of Max playing guitar at their sessions after all???

Most comparable acts are probably afraid to tour with them cause they don't want to get blown out by their opening act and come off weak. They are a hard act to follow after all!

I'm there. Solely for Saves The Day. Haters...you know where to step.

I hate the band solely for having such a pretentious "you had to be there" kind of name.

Never listened to a single song.

That's a lot of bands ...

Regardless of whatever proves to be true, unless the tickets are too pricey, I'm there. (Actually, I'd still probably be there, anyway.)

Aww Limbeck. Smile I haven't seen them in years.
Though, with that many bands I probably wouldn't stay 'till the end...

Although I would love Eisley to tour with another awesome band (like they have in the past (Mute Math, Vedera)) so the show is even more of a bargain at $20, $25, whatever I pay for my ticket, I will go if Eisley is opening for Hannah-freaking-Montana. I am there to see Eisley, after all. Basically I'm just trying to say that I don't really care who they tour with, but if it's another band I like than it's a bonus.

But if that above mentioned tour is true than I hope the venue allows re-entry because I'd only watch Eisley and Say Anything (solely because of the Eisley connection and to see what their live shows are like).

Is this next tour for sure not going to be a headlining tour?

Laaaame. I'm not sure at your age, with your taste, you could ever get into them, because Through Being Cool defined my formative years. But I'd probably recommend In Reverie or Stay What You Are, if you were up for it. In Reverie gets the most acclaim from hipsters.

yeah, but 30 years ago, the go-gos were a punk band... So the definition was a little more flexible.
