I haven't seen a topic on this yet so I'm making one. Go get the video for free by sharing it on facebook or tweeting it. http://www.eisley.com/ambulance/# It's amazing how different this song is live. The studio version is bittersweet but this one is just heartbreaking. I've heard it live before, but I apparently forgot how amazing and sad it is live. It has so much emotion. I was almost in tears by the end of the video. Geez, so good. _________________ cynlovescandy wrote: kulvir wrote: I bet R. Kelly approves of peeing in the shower. The world is R. Kelly's shower. I absolutely LOVE this performance. Stacy sounds so wonderful. If you don't want to download the video you can watch it here: http://media.strangeyellowpatterns.com/videos/453/ambulance aaaand I uploaded an MP3 of the performance: http://media.strangeyellowpatterns.com/audio/140/ambulance |

Requiring people to post the link on Twitter or Facebook before they watch the video is backwards. Mine some e-mails for the mailing list first, then provide Twitter and Facebook links after the clickthrough. I'll have more to say when the download finishes. EDIT: Good performance, and very decent video (though the fadeout at the end was weird). Worth downloading for sure. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

Seriously, though. That video has inspired a (very counterproductive, in light of all the homework...) serious, serious Eisley-YouTube-fest for me. I've just been watching live videos over and over again, comparing different performances of the same songs and stuff. That is why they're my favorite band. _________________ Taylor | @thbrogan http://inconnumag.com |

I think part of what makes the song much more stark and affecting, is: She's playing piano on the Fire Kites version, Rhodes here The strings don't come in till the chorus on this version, adding tension The guitars are Way Up in the mix, lead & rhythm, giving it UMPH. She and Sherri embellish their vocal parts in good ways. Needless to say, it's makes me think of how some people had to hear the Kid A songs live to "get them" and embrace that record after it came out, except we already liked this song _________________ yup, that's my name. Oh, I totally agree. It's amazing by just switching up a few things can really recreate a song and make into something else completely. It's not even that that much is changed. It's just the Rhodes and extra guitar pretty much but the vocals are killer on this video, too. _________________ cynlovescandy wrote: kulvir wrote: I bet R. Kelly approves of peeing in the shower. When Stacy sings "I built a monument" I swear, I get chills. Her voice keeps surprising me with how good it is. And their harmonies on this version stand out to me a lot more than in the Fire Kite version. _________________ Taylor | @thbrogan http://inconnumag.com |

I agree that the sharing should come after. On the other hand, the way it is now it will probably reach more people.. not sure. But I thought the fadeout of the video at the end worked really well. |

I very nearly didn't bother downloading it at all because I don't like spamming my Facebook feed and I'm pretty much over Twitter. Considering all the tossers who post about everything they do in Farmville on Facebook, there probably won't be a big problem getting a lot of downloads. Kappa962 wrote: The fade out isn't intentional. I doubt if Bliss had any idea we would want to use her video. I was just looking at what I had sounding good, and I saw Bliss's video on YouTube, so we ended up combining the two. I thought it didn't look much like a Boyd vid! Cool that you found one so high quality on YouTube. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |
