Pretty excited, definitely like what Sherri said about the roots of the label matching with their philosophy. Hope they treat 'em gud.

I'm scratching my head on this one. Never heard of the label or any of their bands. Then again, I've not worked in the indie scene for 10 years. I hope they can deliver on their promises, because Eisley has been through enough with WB already.

Ditto. The only bands I recognize are on their "inactive roster," whatever that means.

But honestly, I don't think Eisley should get a high-profile label to help with promotions. They were on WB and it didn't do crap for them commercially. I feel the bottom line is that Eisley need a label to help them cover the expenses of recording and releasing albums, and maybe getting said albums into mainstream retailers like Wal-Mart and such. Everything else they do pretty well on their own.

And if they're happy with the decision, so am I. Smile

EV is legit. They consistently elevate the status of their bands. Bands usually got from EV to a major. Boyd name dropped a few, not all, but yeah, they know what they are doing. The produce bands that ARE successful on the indie level, to the threshold of said success.

All the skeptics, bare in mind, this is about a company promoting an artist/ band and their music. It's not the lunchroom in high school. They aren't resigned to sit at one table, and disavow the presence of any artist/ band that might be more comfortable at their table.

If you don't believe me then listen to Dustin Kensrue's solo record (of Thrice) which was released on EV after Thrice were signed by a major. Bands make music & fans, Labels make the music easier to come by. That's all that's required of them. On that note EV has solid distribution and the have a lot of inactive bands because they've been scooped up by majors, or reconstituted themselves as psuedo-supergroups on majors (Fred Macherino Fronted: Breaking Pangea, The Color Fred, and now Terrible Things on Motown for example)

This is great news. I'm just so glad they're happy.

On another note, I'm not sure quite yet how I feel about the album potentially being called The Valley...

where did you hear that from!

and yes, i'm quite excited seeing them on equal vision. a few of them have pass through us, and it's interesting seeing how most of the bands are hardcore and punk. looks like eisley's meant to always be the one that's different in the group! not a bad thing.

Sherri mentioned that as a potential title in the Dallas Observer Interview.

I'm fine with The Valley That song is really Anthemic, and artistically, it's a statement because it's so well put together with the addition of strings and everything. Even if it isn't the final title, it meaning the low between two peaks says a lot.

I'm going to be honest. I'm glad Eisley is happy, and I hope the label works out... but all I really care about is getting that new record. Having a set date (March) helps me wait.

I'm just interested if this will have any bearing on who they tour with in the future. They really should be touring with acts like Jenny Lewis or M. Ward. They keep trying hard with these punk/emo tours, but it just has never seemed like the proper fit to me.
