Anyone still willing to buy it for me at one of the 22 or 23 shows? Ironically, my pre-order cancellation went through today. Ha.

I'm really annoyed; I emailed MerchNOW a few days ago to cancel my purchase and then they replied back for the order number (which I don't have because if anyone remembers, I must have wrote the email in wrong when I was ordering so now I cannot check my order status) so instead the asked for the last 4 digits of my credit card. I gave it to them, then saw this thread and how the CDs WON'T be given out the 16th so I quickly emailed back an asked them to forget the cancellation if possible, but now it's been says and I can't hear back from them. The only email I keep receiving is a request for the order number which I don't have! And I know my order existed at least at one point because I emailed them earlier about the email mishap and they told me my order was fine. Bah! My pre-order is in limbo right now Sad

^ part of me had similar NICER version of those thoughts that I Kept to myself.

Don't be Cruel
Be Kind*

*I would have used Kaila's cover, but that would be too obvious and on a gut level coarse to use as a punchline since she's the immediate recipient of your jab.

"kept" is past tense
you would have had me cold if I'd said "am keeping"
Razz

I'm a crank these days, so I'm never surprised when things get complicated and frustrating for people, or they don't see it coming and it's sours their mood. Buuuut, I'm thinking it's always nicer to filter that cynicism through a TENDERIZER. Don't want to be too coarse or brusque.

Just put it this way, no one likes to be told "I told you so" when they're smarting, and doing it creates the impression that you're just kicking said person when they're down. Nobody likes a Wises-acre when they feel a bit like a fool. Not saying anyone is a Wiseacre or a Fool in this thread, just saying, as far as tact and kindness go, a jab can sometimes sting more than is intended if you're timing's good and your strike is stiff & swift.

I'll just refer to my old signatures:

RE: Interpersonal Communication

Honesty without love is Brutality
Love with honesty is Cruelty

and

RE: Conducting Business & all things Practical (Buying, Selling, Building, Disassembling)

Measure twice, Cut Once.

and yes I know this is TYPICAL WIL. I'm just trying be a little balanced here cause I am plastering the LC with Arcade Fire hate and every preorder on here who is a musician has at least one song I've heard that I like better than any Arcade Fire song on their 1st 3 records, so they merit empathy on my part, no violins or anything on my part, but just a wee bit of sighs Razz

That's how I try to live my life. "give em a quick short, sharp shock, they won't do it again, dig it? (if you know where that is from then bonus points)"

no, the truth is as i was typing that they were playing Celine Dion's 'My heart will go on" over Xm radio and i turned my rage into the post.

^ the quote makes me think of a poster a friend of mine had about hitting people with the but of a shotgun to the mouth or something to that affect from either Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs but I am TERRIBLE at remembering quotes, so that's probably not it. It sounds familiar and I get your reasoning.

Celine is actually one canadian musician I abhor more than the Arcade Fire, her, Shania Twain, Barenaked Ladies, Sum 41, Tal Bachman, and Brian Adams.
