I really do like the "Ok" in Oxygen Mask. I love something about it, but can't put my finger on what. My favorite lyrics would be... "Oh, you remember me, doubled over on the floor, we start to read, and all the poetry, convinces me, you were stolen from, the waves at sea." - Oxygen Mask "Fear finds, weakness in numbers (that's why we stick close) We're gallant, we're strong, we're safe." "And if you're my guide I'm your guide!..." - Better Love "I watched you from afar, a blazing burning star, I came alive, a new design, The tree of life, is what you are." - I Wish "I appreciate your patience... I know that you've been hurt too, Oh, we're black and blue." - Please "So I caught you in a lie singin' hey (Oh no you don't) I'll never be, what you want (That's plain to see) Fabulous teeth, and a smile that'll melt your heart Oh come on, don't you know, how to play..." - Watch it Die. I really really love the part in that aforementioned verse where Stacy comes in with her "Oooooooh" after "teeth". |

So put your hands together and clap for this painful choice you’ve made The imagery is delightfully cynical. In this line, who is the person who made the choice? Thanks. I was never too steeped in the family drama, but I'm guessing Chad. _________________ EisleyForever wrote: you're A-list in my heart! MAKECOLDPLAYHISTORY |

^ Yeah, I never was either, but I thought she was referring to herself in this instance. Was curious to know if that was correct though. _________________ "On a freezing note, I resonate. Just like romantic verses, just like a joyous end, just like a memory, it twists me." |

I can pull a favourite line from each song probably. My top picks are: Please: "I'm sorry you've got so much against you coming into this I appreciate your patience and I know that you've been hurt too Oh, we're black and blue" Kind: "Be very kind, don't let the world fall on your shoulders" Also most of Oxygen Mask and the second half of I Wish |

There are a lot of sad lyrics on this record, but knowing the strong family support system that have been there for them, I know they came out much stronger in the end. _________________ "I live my life for me, not you. Straight edge is me, until the day I die." |

Speaking of literal, bare, affecting lyrics: There i sat alone in the car the weight of what you'd done around me oh all around me and with the water rushing down my eyes it was all that i could do, not to scream but oh, it's alright, now it's over, oh baby, this was the night and oh mr. moon, shines down on my home, it's where i belong without you Over the backing, and with the cadence and melody they're sung, it's hard for me to breath during the verse, which makes the exhale and inhale of the chorus all the more poignant. _________________ yup, that's my name. I love most of the lyrics, but two lines seemed backwards to me? Maybe I'm missing something. From "Better Love": "Fear finds weakness in numbers." I'd think fear finds weakness in loneliness, not numbers. Or maybe it means that out of a number of people, fear targets any weakness it finds? From "Sad": "Hardly waiting till the bed was warm." Shouldn't that be "cold"? As in, so-and-so left one bed to go off with someone else, who didn't wait until the first bed was even cold? Maybe this could be "Hardly waiting SINCE the bed was warm," to preserve the rhyme. _________________ Classical guitar cover of "Combinations": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkIpDhvbd2o |

I think the first verse is just a reverse of "Strength in numbers." It's just a weird way of saying that we fear less, we're less scared, the more of us there are. Fear is weakened by our numbers, with numbers we feel more gallant, strong, safe. The second verse played out in my head like this; a couple gets into bed, (and I don't mean in a sexual way) and almost immediately, "without waiting till the bed was warm", the husband/boyfriend brings up this topic. "He closed his eyes and said 'I'm feeling torn.'" I feel the verse illustrates how quickly he brought up the topic that night, not how quickly he might have left. |

well, I agree with what was said just above me, but it could also be that a bed is something a couple share, and can be a metaphor for many things... a bed being warm, isn't neccessarily two people doing y'know 'whatever' in it, it's just two people sharing that bed. Their marraige was fairly short, (I don't wanna get in to the details) and I think the bed not being 'warm' is representing how short that marriage was, and how quick he began to feel 'torn' and left. |

^Weakness in numbers sounds like a play on words, and it may have more significance in that, but without a proper context, any other analysis is purely conjecture. the last bit of Polaris's explanation makes sense to me Polaris wrote: with numbers we feel more gallant, strong, safe. In context I take it to mean that, Fear is an entity, seeking out the weak amongst the many, and in order to feel protected, you need someone to be so close to you that you're never alone or isolated in your weakness. Again this is conjecture, but phrased as it is, it can be taken as a very loaded statement: "...Fear finds weakness in numbers That's why we stick close. We're gallant, we're strong, we're safe. You chose me, you're the first born, and an angel. You're so brave. Now I can brave myself." People think they are protected in large groups (strength in numbers) Fear will creep in, and find the weak among that large group You have to stick close to the people you care about to be protected These is safety in the strength of close bonds between people it liberates you to be brave and noble She was chosen by a first born child, an angel in her eyes This first born child's bravery gave her the strength to challenge herself/ Face her own fears, with said courage and strength attained via their close bond. Polaris wrote: "He closed his eyes and said 'I'm feeling torn.'" I feel the verse illustrates how quickly he brought up the topic that night, not how quickly he might have left. Yup, that's how I took the "Hardly waiting till the bed was warm." line too, cause the bed's cold till you're laying there, under covers a while to warm it up. _________________ yup, that's my name.
