So...Currents!

I was pretty content waiting before, but now that we have a release date, I just want a sneak peek. SO excited to see how they sound with Jeremy Larson's arrangements / mixing, because I loved Sucre's album more than anything we've had from Eisley since Room Noises days (excluding a few songs like "Laugh it Off").

Can't wait. If Deep Space was any indication of where the band was heading, this will be pretty amazing.

A lot of bands have announced May albums the last few days.
What was the old song that was on a picture Garren posted about mixing?
I don't recognize any titles as being old songs.

Since it's only two months away, I think I might refrain from actually listening to any previews this time around. I thought about doing that last time, but then the wait became too long and I caved.

Wasn't there a rumor that "aristacats" was going to be on this album? Could "lost enemies" be "aristicats"? If I'm remembering correctly, one of the lyrics from "aristicats" mentions "lost enemies"...

probably not... Embarassed

Got my email blast and had to come to the "crusty old site" to share excitement!

My first thought was that I can't wait for previews! But then, that's a good point that the wait isn't THAT far away this time! I'm excited that there's 12 new songs and the promo pics are cute.

That's it!
Yes there are some lyrics that sound like the word 'enemies.'
Good guess.

I have a feeling it's going to be very groove heavy, that the guitars will be providing more atmosphere and do less launching off into the Stratosphere like they did on Deep Space.

My money is on One Last Song being the point of departure, and Deep Space being Eisely's Airbag: How Am I Driving and Currents being their Kid A, as in, the album that shapes the sound to come for the next decade of Eisley music, 10 years after their proper introduction to the masses. I'm really looking forward to it.

I have a strong feeling that the mention of Max as a collaborator might herald in him taking on some vocal duties this go around. Should spark some discussion around here I'm sure. Wink

A lot of the lead parts were pretty atmospheric sounding. And the Rhodes. Man, I'm excited.

I didn't listen to anything from The Valley until my preorder came. Which was tough because it was, like, a week late.

That's what i expect to hear a lot of, melodic lead and arpeggio, and different flavors of keys and piano, with bass carrying a lot more melody. At least that's my hope. With Jeremy Larson at the console, i'm not sure what to expect because his stuff is ornate, even when it's simple pop. His drum treatments are excellent, but the bass never really catches me as a focal point in his mixes. Maybe i'm just not paying close enough attention? Truth be told, my ideal mix renders having to pay attention moot, like in Sunfeet or Marvelous Things. Love those two. Rhodes plus thick bass lines can work miracles atmospherically.

I get the feeling the "aquatic" vibe will permeate the record, lots of tremelo and vibrato, rolling bass lines, lots of ride. Some cello woud be a nice touch...
