so i know in past convos an interviews, they've said sherri is the mccartney and stacey is the lennon of eisley. me and my friend were speculating that perhaps chauntelle might be the harrison on the new album? my friend is also a big harrison fan.

With them being a 5 piece I'm ditching the Beatles comparison cause unless Garron is Billy Preston the Beatles don't have the numbers to match up with Eisley, membership-wise. Radiohead works as a 5 piece/ flattering comparison, but really, Fleetwood Mac works so much better IMHO.

I don't know how i'd match em' up though outside of john mcvie & mick fleetwood being garron & weston:

Here's how i'd do it

Sherri - lindey Buckingham
Stacy - stevie Nicks
Chauntelle - christine mcvie

Some day would love to see chauntelle get her buckingham on, & I see stacy & christie as christie mcvie style songwriters & singers, though outside of Eisley Stacy has chosen to strictly do vocals, hence the nicks nod. Sherri can get her nicks on outside of eisley too, but she has a way of rocking when she sings & plays at the same time that seems to bring the energy level of her material up, something Lindsey does so well.

I like the fleetwood Mac comparison. However I think Stacy might be Christine and Sherri more like stevie, and chauntelle potentially buckingham. I say this because Sherri seems to have written more of the mystical vibe songs (ie. marvelous things, I wasn't prepared, away we go, queen of leaves, MKD, ect.) and I may be wrong, but I think she has greater appeal or notoriety to people unfamiliar with eisley. Christine was really underrated in fleetwood mac, but she wrote some of their biggest hits and had the most soulful songs/voice which I think corresponds to Stacy a little more.

I also think that Stacy and Christine have similar writing styles as you never exactly know what they're writing about with their metaphors and phrasings. Sherri and Stevie on the other hand both use metaphors but you know what they are saying whether if its a fairy tale or love story. However with currents, the dynamic could evolve more into what you said wil.

^ I agree with you actually, and I always thought Sherri was the focal point of the band before I came here. My impression has always been that on the LC Stacy carries a lot more favor and is the focal point. Plus she plays the keys like Christine, so I decided to say Stevie because how she seemed to become the focal point even more on the Valley, and then more so in Sucre', which I didn't expect, cause I was looking forward to hearing her play instruments with that band. So, the more it seemed to me that Stacy was emerging as the most viable individual musician outside of the band so far, she was on that Stevie Nicks level, relatively.

On the flipside, Lindsey Buckingham wrote so many of their great songs, and his solo material holds up too. Oddly enough, he's a great singer, with a unique timbre, so that Stevie Nicks sings lower than he does most times. Stacy sings most of the lower parts of the lead vocals so it made since that way too. Buuuuut vocally she sounds more like Christine McVie than Stevie Nicks to my ear...

Now, what's really funny is that Weston had that thing for wearing vests, which was also a big part of Mick Fleetwoods personal style Laughing

yes yes, but i really can't get into buckingham solo. i like the stuff he did for fleetwood mac, but there's something about him with stevie and christine that really just bring out the best in him. i think even with sucre, even though the delivery is similar to that of stevie's i still get more of a christine vibe from the songs, albeit more creative than christine solo. i think a lot of major fleetwood mac fans, who love the band collectively (outside of really just being big buckingham or stevie fans) actually favor christine more than stevie, but i really like stevie a little more.

Christine's voice is just so good in a more conventional way. She could sing Disney princess themes and Stevie sounds great but her range has lessened as she aged, so that South Park goat joke stung in the funniest kind of way.

Christine seemed to have her act together when back in the day Stevie was a little more unhinged. My old boss in college was a roadie with them back then and mentioned the craziness of escorting her around under the influence.

I think when Stacy was younger she seen as more an underdog, but now I see her as a full blown standout star. It seemed to really come out on the Valley tour, so much confidence to go with the talent & poise. My perception of Christine is as a slightly reclusive talent in contrast to the more flambouyant/ outgoing performers fronting the group.

When I think of Lindsey Buckingham, I think more of his live performances in recent years & the albums that followed, Under the Skin & Gift of Screws. All the music is built around voice & his nylon string guitar which is occasionaly amplified. His level of passion & commitment to each song reallly impressed me.

Woahh, long time no LC. There's a 30 second preview of Currents on Amazon. Apparently they're releasing it as a single on the 23rd. Loving it so far! Also, the EVR Twitter posted that bundles/pre-orders are coming soon.

another song that passes the 3min mark! i think like it, but the low quality amazon stream is Evil or Very Mad and makes it seems a little messy.

edit-

i won't pass judgment before hearing the rest, but i think i might prefer songs like wicked child. however, it took a while for that one to grow on me too. i think mostly i don't want to see eisley lumped into the alternative buttrock category with bands like Now, Now and Balance and Composure.

now that's not to say i don't like the song, it's just post rock is pretty popular in that genre at the moment. however, the way the drums are done in this song remind me more of the appleseed cast.

Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love

and I like Now Now, and Balance & Composure, and I don't think this sounds like either of those two.

This is more groove, heavy on the back beat and vibe. I would say it's closer to Midlake, Local Natives, and I hear something else a little more 90s that I can't pin down with that low register guitar picking...

Man alive, I was wondering how they'd top themselves... Jeez Louise, GAWD I LOVE THIS BAND MORE AND MORE Exclamation

I only listened on my phone.
Low guitar made me think of Dave Matthews.
Echo-y lead guitar made me think of Modest Mouse 'Float On.'
Drums made me think of some Radiohead drums where they are looped.
I don't really think it sounds like or imitates any of these, this is just what it made me think of. Probably missing a lot of frequencies on my phone so it may sound totally different elsewhere.
