Very interesting! It does fit with the Deep Space-ish sound. It's hard to hear the vocals, though; I hope that's just the Amazon stream quality. I like that it sounds interesting/different. The drums actually sound a lot like Darren's style to me. I'm sure the whole song has a lot more surprises! |

Especially for how much he loves Stacy's voice. _________________ cynlovescandy wrote: kulvir wrote: I bet R. Kelly approves of peeing in the shower. The world is R. Kelly's shower. Also, I listened to the clip. I don't even care. I think Deep Space was definitely an indication of what was to come. Though, I feel like this album will have this all around groove to it. Aristicats, Wicked Child and Currents (from what I can tell) all have groovy qualities to them. I'm really seeing them take a bit of a turn. I like the Local Natives comparison. I don't think it sounds exactly like them or even much like them at all. But from what I've heard of LN, a lot of their stuff is indie, but with a solid groove. Nothing crazy, you can just really get into it. I'm officially stoked about this album. Especially since Wicked Child reminded me a little of Fleet Foxes. I think Eisley could really reinvent themselves in those types of genres and succeed greatly in them. _________________ cynlovescandy wrote: kulvir wrote: I bet R. Yeah I thought of Fleet Foxes too, but said Local Natives instead cause they play up thee rhythm section more than Fleet Foxes, who don't show enough love to the drums & bass at times. But both groups are masters of harmony and melody of the ethereal yet catchy kind. I think it's fair to say this is unique to Eisley, but I was more reaching for something I would put in a mix with this type of song or a tour. BigIdea I totally hear Radiohead in the drums, but I didn't say it cause I thought this sounded like what I WISHED Thom's solo stuff sounded like most of the time, & lately Radiohead has gotten even more esoteric, closer to Thom's solo sound, thn i'd hope for. I think a really goood comparison is to the album tracks on the 1st MUTEMATH record, cause everything other than Typical was super hypnotic & heavy on vibe & groove. They ditched that for Armistice & I was bummed, then Odd Soul was just an incredible blend of Jamoraqui meets the Black Keys style space age soul rock. I'd love to see Eisley blendd their style with that early MUTEMATH style that got them those favorable Police comparisons. Eisley FTW. _________________ yup, that's my name. Mehhhh Deep Space was their weakest effort yet and only half of The Valley made it into my rotation. It's a good thing Sucre and Merriment picked up the slack and filled in my playlist. This is from a guy who still listens to all of Combinations and all of Room Noises. |

I haven't forgotten you buzzkilling ways. You called Eisley Butt Rock. That's just wrong. Puddle of Mudd & Nickelback are Butt Rock. If you called Deep Space shoegaze or something or garagey I could dig that, even emo, btu Butt Rock. I can see why you didn't like it, and I can see how the Valley was polarizing, cause it was their most "radio friendly" album, just multile radiostations on the same record I should have asked then, but I will now: Did you like the Mos Eisley EPs or Laughing City? I ask because this is what the new stuff sounds like to me, that version of tastes with a lot more polish & ambition _________________ yup, that's my name. No, not yet. There's hardly anything available yet. Laura Marling's is coming out the same day (!!!), has track-by-track press write ups and I compiled a preview last week*? I'm assuming they're taking a more casual approach on purpose or it's all gonna rain down this week. *bigger name, smaller label |

DS EP = butt rock? It sounded to me like the first time their voices were natural sounding since pre-WB days, i.e. no pitch correction. They were also made to include songs they didn't care about, so really it would be like saying you only like a WB controlled Eisley. _________________ I am Torgo. I can't be sure, but I think I called half of The Valley butt rock. I called Deep Space plodding and lacking strong hooks, 'One Last Song' being the exception. As I said, I like all of Room Noises, all of Combinations, and half of The Valley. I owned all of their early EPs starting in 2000? 1999? Whenever that was. |
