not to be a debbie downer, but if they dont get their goal, then they dont get any of the funds right? and no ep and no demos get shared? what then? that would suck _________________ Wil's excellent description of me. wilsmith wrote: You're the Anti-Censorship+Topless Twitpic Parodying+Youth Group Video Directing guy that's a champion for the 1st amendment, Videogames as Art, and unrepentant file sharing... The wording of the Demo collection seems to indicate that there will be a later digital release outside of Kickstarter. Anyone else read it this way? Only the 3-4 song EP and $1000 Cover seem truly exclusive as far as music files. _________________ I am Torgo. I take care of the place while the Master is away. |

I almost messaged them as soon as this started to recommend moving to an Indiegogo instead, but when it comes down to it, the truth is I don't know enough about either to make that sort of suggestion. And quite honestly, I won't be shocked if they don't get the funds. I hope they do, but I won't be surprised. I think the first couple of days are a huge indicator of how the fundraising is going to go...and the donations seem to have started to plateau a bit. I work in the arts and have tons of friends who use kickstarters to fund various projects. The first few days are important, and the last few/final push is as well. Hopefully they get some promo somehow to boost interest in the middle. bigideas wrote: The wording of the Demo collection seems to indicate that there will be a later digital release outside of Kickstarter. The only thing that I can think of that would make you read into it that way is that it's a digital release as opposed to physical. _________________ "I shall take the heart," returned the Tin Woodsman; "for brains do not make one happy, and happiness is the best thing in the world." |

im not concerned about the covers as that's a 1/1 type deal. only meant for those who bought it. but even at that, the ep not being released because the project didnt get funded would also suck (along with it sucking that they didnt make it) _________________ Wil's excellent description of me. wilsmith wrote: You're the Anti-Censorship+Topless Twitpic Parodying+Youth Group Video Directing guy that's a champion for the 1st amendment, Videogames as Art, and unrepentant file sharing... If they said they'd cover Gangnam Style, I'd ask for a Coeur de pirate song or something. They seem like they'd be francophiles. I guess I wouldn't want them to struggle singing a song because of the language, but still! I wish I had money to shelve out $1000... or even $60. |

I sure hope the demos will be made available later on down the road. Even if they sell them directly through a digital means. I'd love to have them and they're totally worth the money to me. I just don't have it now and probably won't by the time the Kickstarter ends. But when I do, I want them to take it in exchange for their goods and services. _________________ Do I even need a signature anymore? |

But I just did the $60 pledge for the ep/demos so here's hoping. As for covers, I was going to jokingly mention this Divinyls song before either in an old covers thread or because of the Say Anything song . Only remembered it again today because the singer just died. _________________ we're really not alone, we have each other |

I kind of want that handwritten lyric sheet. It just seems special, y'know? I also want to pay my bills. Hmmmm. I don't really get why people freak out over kickstarter. I think it's great. I remember backing inconnu magazine. It feels really personal, in a good way. I think kickstarter feels like a backwards way of doing business. but maybe traditional business models are backwards. Maybe kickstarter is forwards. Maybe I like to write in four line chunks. Maybe I don't. _________________ You can't find love; you have to create it. Flickr |

Oh. I guess that's sort of what I meant. Well, I meant both things. It's weird that people freaked out about Eisley using kickstarter to try and fund their tour, and it's weird that people freak out about kickstarter in general. Also, I just re-read through this thread more thoroughly. I can see why the clarification is needed. _________________ You can't find love; you have to create it. Flickr |

I just posted that Currents reminds me of Heart for whatever reason so I say heck yes they should cover a Heart song! But I'd say more something like Dreamboat Annie, Magic Man, or Mistral Wind. _________________ my flickr |
