I caught that and although you wouldn't necessarily get that from the video, the lyrics walk that tightrope, kind of like Every Breath You Take did. https://genius.com/Eisley-always-wrong-lyrics When we hear "obsessive love" the typical figure is often Male, an aggressive predator, or in some cases a beguiling one. I think it's a part of how we're raised to see masculinity and femininity. There's that old adage, "Welcome to my lair said the spider to the fly." That's the dark/ grim fair tale vibe I would be getting from the lyrics. The idea that the person leading the person they obsess about on, with no intention to deliver on the promise of love beyond courtship and infatuation. I guess from my perspective if I had to put it in contemporary vernacular, the song could be about being friend-zoned, teased, or CB'ed by someone who refuses to let you move on to someone you can really be happy with, be that person a friend or a lover? _________________ yup, that's my name. I never paid much attention to the lyrics except "just take my small, sweet hand" always seemed funny. Makes more sense now. _________________
