I'm so vain. I bet I think this forum is about me..'bout me...'bout me...

oh yeah? well - try my free stuff on for size then!:

"My Lovely" at KUT Radio.
This song recorded WAY too early in the morn, after little sleep, with
no warm up, very little sound check, live - on air. Monitors weren't
working right, stuff was wigged, the band was like: "oh, well... we're
going live in 1 minute no matter what..." That's pressure. Anyway, you
get a bonus track of KUT interview.

Sonic Boom - Just Like We Do.
I know a few of you found this, but... in case you didn't. Sonic Boom
records in Seattle, where Eisley was #1 in sales the first week. wooT. hak.

I don't. (think this song is about me.) But I'm now getting pm's and
emails from people wondering where I've been. I tell them "I'm IN
there...I've been posting in eisleyblog!" and they say...but, where's, like -
your regular update and journal? I say, "that was just for a time". And
they say..." well, but... we expect you to write stuff and..."

Anyway, it seems that many lurkers don't have time to read into the
depths of the forum and only scanned my scoops. So, gRegor is
sypathetic and we're talking about some kind of stupid boid forum or
column or place or something.

NEWS
Oh Lord....is Tyler becoming murder capital of the world? The stories I
could tell. Remind me to tell you about this guy who came to our church
recently...who murdered a girl who visited our church and is now behind
bars. We were right in the middle of the testimony. yyyIKES!!!

But YA'LL... today we thought Jon's dad was killed in that terrible gun
battle in downtown Tyler. Did you hear to story? A mad gunman with
AK47 killed 2, wounded 3 and was killed by police in shoot out. THIS IS
ONLY BLOCKS AWAY! Collin heard the shooting and the screams from up
on the second story deck outside. Like 50 rounds with a semi-automatic,
assault rifle. The guy killed his wife and tried to kill his son because he
lost a custody battle. Insane!

Horrors as phone calls and news stories of a "Mark Wilson" - a licensed
concealed weapon holder who tried to apprehend the shooter was gunned
down by the assailant. No. This was terrifying: our very own Mark Wilson
(Jon of Eisley's dadworks RIGHT there on the courthouse square, and is a
licensed concealed weapon holder!) Finally, a bold phone call from
Weston to their house proved that it was, in fact, a different Mark Wilson.
...oh Lord, that was a hard few minutes. Still... I have close friends that
are close friends of the real deceased Mark Wilson, who basically saved
the life of the son - and gave his life in place. So sad.

Anyway. What a weird day. How could these things happen here?
Let's change gears.

Eisley n College Radio

Eisley is breaking on college radio! Here's a little report. I received email
this morning from a station in NJ saying that :Eisley debuted at #1 this
week
; I asked him exactly what that meant. This is his reply:
_____________________________

Hey Boyd,

This means that over the past week (Eisley's first since they were added
to our rotation), they had more spins than any other album on our
station, WTSR. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of another artist
that has been #1 after only one week on our charts -- even the larger
indie names like the Killers, Keane and Interpol failed to accomplish
this. This is even more impressive since Room Noises is Eisley's first
full-length album.
WTSR is the radio station on the campus of The College of New Jersey,
located just outside of Trenton, NJ. Also, we are a core CMJ station --
which places us in the top 50 college stations nationwide. So being
number one as a debut, or number one at all, is certainly quite
impressive. Everything I've heard has just been incredibly positive
about the album from our DJs, staff and listeners.

Congrats again!

~Mike

(ps -- I have attached our current chart to this email -- so you can see
exactly where Eisley stands in relation to other current WTSR artists.)

So... I thought that was worthy of reporting. cool. Who knows what could
happen? it's all rather shocking to us. The band just scratches their head
and then quickly forgets what I just told them. I have to tell them these
things multiple times because they forget or would rather not think about
it. Who understand's their sic, sic, minds? ha ha.. When we talk about
eisley, like when friends come over or whatever, they plug their ears and
say, "yaha yha yhadada daa!" before darting upstairs. Funny. Quickest
way to run them off...talk about their band. I'm so bad.

Right now Stacy is by herself in the kitchen - making some kind of desert
... she's spinning (vinyl) Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young's: "Deja' Vu". I'm
terribly proud.

Face Man
In other news - I shaved off my stupid gotee this morning. Now, instead
of looking like a scruffy, outdated scooby-doo owner, i look like an old
woman with Mick Jagger lips. STILL, the girls in my life gave me big
scores and grins and kisses all day...so, hey. You gotta please the ladies,
right? (pause) I still look like a goober.
_______________________________

Now back to the nfg poster. Due in the morning. Speaking of - I've been
chatting with Chad much via cell lately, as I'm tryng to solve tour issues
like crew, FOH, integrating a banner, etc. He's the nicest of fellows.
Smart, kind, humble, helpful. The sort of cad you can't help but think is
cool. A Southerner, to boot. ANYWAY... The giveaway sticker took 2 days
of back and forth revisions with the dubbuh bee. I will talk about these
vehicles tomorrow or sometime soon.

Yes. I have to have a voice. My creativity dries up if I don't get to
write. As lame as I am, I have to do it. sorry.

Have you checked this out? Actually, i don't know where this is.

I don't know how obscure this add-on post is - or even care really... I'm just glad that the new server melt down didn't turn our data into something that resembled the wicked witch of the West. That was a scary 15 hours... or however long we were down. Oh-oh...oh-eee-oh!

nfg tour
SO. I'm beginning to feel the birth pangs of the next tour in my stomach. We JUST got home, ya'll. It's not fair. I haven't settled. Whatever feeling that - I had time to smell the roses - is getting sucked up in a vaccum of anxiety as I realize it's time to start advancing shows; Sherri's amp is still broken, the in-ear board has problems, we still need that gps, the backdrop has to be designed, and the poster/flyer has to get through the proofing process and OFF MY DESKTOP. Those are just the things I feel the liberty to discuss publicly. There are always stresses that nobody knows about. This is going to be a long, tough tour - and surviving it will be hard - on many levels.

Back in the starting position
The band is back in an opening slot! That's better than the middle slot - since sound check's are typically reduced to "line checks" which suck terribly. At least Eisley will get to arrive late, set up last, sound check last and stay on stage till their set.

Hit it hot, hard and get out of there
Speaking of their set, I'd plan on hearing about 6 solid songs. On the Coldplay tour, they got 25 minutes 5 songs; Brand New was 30 minutes - (6 Songs) I believe... we're told this tour, the band will get 25 - 30. I'd say about the same... 6 of their best n baddest tunes with as much energy they can muster.

I think it'll be a great little set - hopefully enough to win over some new fans. (right? with ya'lls help...crowd culture dictates that others might feed off your enthusiasm) I know Eisley will give it all they've got. They'll put everything they have into these 6 songs... There's more to prove when you're opening for a band who's fans are NOT there to see your band. They'll either ignore you, boo you or love you... For this tour to be productive, there's only one option. Kick some booteh'.

Back at it... Server trials subside
I have to get back to work. Just wanted to check in, say hi and say thanks for your patience yesterday - that melt down was a total fluke. A once in a lifetime mishap. The server won't be going down like that again. At least not for the same reason. At least now, we have 24 hr. support. Yes, deep level echniods were up all night - hovered over and around our dedicated Eisley box. That's sweet, right? Just so you understand, the host we just left was ALL automated. You could never - ever talk to a warm body. It was a joke. But we're in good hands now. It's all going to be ok. ahhhh.....

Renewing Vows
This journal will lead right into the new tour journal. I am making a new vow - a new commitment to bring you guys some meaty, wordy, audio-visualistic tour journaling this time. Yes. oh baby. yes. oh baby-O.

OH...and, as for the old, old tour journals...like Coldplay and Brand New...they will be back up soon. New fans can dig a bit to see the tour history. (well, that's what i would do).

Canadian Delight
CANADA!! WELCOME TO ROOM NOISES! I trust that all 5 of you bought the record?!!! woo hoooo!!!! Canadians + Eisley = night crossings at borders with mean guards on both sides!!! - but it's all worth it. We love you and will come to you in the night... and they'll tax us SO much for our merch!! But...that's ok!!

Revamping "PRESS"
As you may or may not know, "PRESS" is very important. Oh, not so much to you or I. Didn't you see "Almost Famous"? ha ha. Press must be an important institution - or it wouldn't still be alive. Just because most of us no longer read Rolling Stone doesn't mean they're not an important piece of the puzzel. Just because they be keen on Eisley hateration - (Hillary/Bush/home-school/unicorn barbie for 10 year olds) doesn't mean they didn't give Brittany 5 stars. Come on ya'll... and, anyway... they're good at soft porn.

But... (sorry for that cheap retort) have you been reading the very-very special, amAzzzzing reviews that "Room Noises" has been getting? Well, if you haven't, we're going to make it easier. Victoria, Me and Luke are going to be working on it... it should be up in a few days. That'll be pretty cool... especially to outsiders, industry people, tire-kickers, curiousity seekers, info-gatherer's...readers, fans, moms and dads, critics, writers, artists, heavy machine operators.

Sorry... I got off track.
cheerz. matee's boyd

Hey,

Tuesday Departure.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, it's happening again... all of the familiar sounds and situations are churning and chugging as the noise of the touring freight train steams closer and closer to our doorstep. I have to tell you... I don't feel ready or rested.

Art Monkey
2 Weeks off? HA! 2 weeks of skidding across the finish line in time to hear the starting (graphic) gun. Just today, I finished the stage banner that drops in back of the band whilst opening for pop punkers - nfg.

Yesterday, I completed revisions to the flyer... the day before - to the poster - and before that, the sticker. There's this sorta gimmicky contest that had to be worked out graphically - "you saw us. we saw you" or..."we saw'd you in half"... can't remember. Anyway, it's all done now.

That thing on the front page
Sorta cool. Chad will come out (i think) sometime during Eisley's set and shoot the crowd. No, with a camera. I download his pic, and upload it to eisley's "myspace" site (main pic). It'll be of ONE person. If that person goes to eisley's myspace, and verify's it was them with WB, they'll get some free swag from both bands... because, remember, nfg's fans will prolly be up front. right? i dunno. Anyway... it's just a thi whatever ng... a way to build relationship between the bands, the fans, etc....

So... I don't know the set lengths yet. I have unofficial conflicting views. I have to settle this with the powers that be before announcing it.

Vox Outage
Eisley, as we type, is rehearsing; breaking down their most valuable songs... attempting to better them for the new crowd. Scratch that. Weston just called - Sherri's Vox AC-30 broke again after spending 50 xtra to get it fixed while we waited in Dallas. $#!$! Same thing. 5 minutes after turning it on... it broke. For us, that's a 5 hr. round trip plus waiting for them to figure out what's wrong. Had to go get them.
Tomorrow night they'll use Sherri's old Fender 66 Bassman "Blackface" till the Vox gets fixed.

Selling the Ole' MossEisley Bus
I really wanted to hang onto it for years and years; drive it around as my car, but... i have to sell it. I hate to see the old thing go... but Matt, my next door neighbor will probably love me - it's in my driveway, blocking most of his access on the side of his house. ha ha. He's such a good sport. Anyway, the engine was rebuilt right before I got it.... we made only one long road trip to Cornerstone Festival, some time later, on the way to a gig in Dallas, (to meet the music attorney) it broke; (long story) anyway, I had the heads re-done, the engine checked out and it's back working - except the brake lines need to be bled. Not trying to use this as an ad but... it cost 6k but we spent another 2k to get misc. things - custom seats in it and did welding to make a bunk bed atop the back seats... so naturally I need to get 6k back, mainly because i need the doh, bro'. My guess is - it's probably only going to go to someone who has an addiction for rock memorabilia. But it's a sweet little bus. Cute, quirky like the band. You see it - this bus IS eisley.

"Room Noises" on vinyl will be on the site soon!
Like, Tom (WB marketing) called me today and said start looking for it. Should be really soon. That's in case you guys can't find it out there. You're worries are over. I don't think they pressed too many. So...anyway, that's cool i think. I love the vinyl. Play it all the time.

This tour
I don't know what to say. It's going to be a mammoth, gi-normous, never-ending, labor of love... 60+ shows. Oh my. I can surely say - we've gotten our money's worth out of that van.

Personnel. Nick
I have crew finally. You might see them so I'll introduce them: Nick Davis (aka "beardo") - long time friend, hilarious, great guitarplayer/ songwriter, was in so many bands over the years (local), has been around since mid-BrewTones era. Was most recently was in a band with Taylor Muse. Anyway, he's going to run "merch", drive, roadie. So... be nice to Nick. He's special.

Personnel - John
Also - even longer time friend; we met him when he was 18, meet John Alderman - now 25, living in Kansas City. He'll be guitar teching, helping set up monitors, load/unload, drive like a monster...you name it, this country boy can do it. Also a musician and a great friend of the family. We're so excited to have both these guys out with us. There's no replacing Daniel or Jonathan, but... we have to move on. They can't come - so...

Looks like we're gonna use NfG's F.O.H. on this tour. He's mixed tons of big rock bands, is a seasoned pro', but interestingly, he's mixed as many Country n Western bands as he has rock - and he prefers them. That is GREAT news. It means he's good. Simply put, if you can mix and master the subtle, well articulated, layered, sensitive sounds of CnW - with lap steels, harmonies, female vocals, clean guitar tones, etc. you're way ahead of the game - when it comes to mixing Eisley. He heard the music and likes it - so I'm told. I'll know more soon.

Well. It's 2:45. Sleep calls. the Site is back up so i can go post this.

boyd

Oh man. I'm glad everyone's ok. Scary stuff.

By they way, give yourself a voice. You have your designated area of the forum. Call it Eisley Insider or something corny like that. Ha. But honestly, you're an inside look to all of this. You're our eyes and ears for this, and I appreciate your efforts to keep us informed. Don't feel bad at all.

Nah,no record store for me at the moment however as the more time passes I think I'm gonna open one up here or just get serious with an online store (which would probably be easier)

I actually want to ask you a few things Boyd, should i just PM it to you? assuming your inbox isnt 2947489436748373 % full

I can't help but wonder, am I a trend-starter? If Tim T. comes to church next sunday and is without facial hair, I shall have my answer. Don't worry about lookin' dorky; after a few days and the first few shaves, you'll start to wonder how you ever coulda had a goatee in the first place!
