I'm guessing it's '72 or '73 stage-model. It doesn't look like an 88-key, which means it's probably a 72 (?). I'm by no means certain, though. Boyd or any of the DuPrees ought to be able to clear that up. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

http://www.eisley.org/viewtopic.php?t=878&highlight= here's a thread on it. From the looks of it, I say it's a Rhodes Mark I Stage Piano, the year between 1975-1979. I'm betting it's a 73 key version. If you look at the nameplate, it just says Rhodes. In late 1975, CBS Musical Instruments decided to drop the Fender name from the Rhodes line of products, in order to establish Rhodes as its own brand. The Rhodes Suitcase Piano and Rhodes Mark I Stage Piano continued to be produced in 73- and 88-key configurations. oh, and here's a wonderful site on the Fender Rhodes. I purchased a 1979 Rhodes Electric Piano, cleaned it up a bit, and now she plays like magic. That website helped me tremendously. _________________ signed: Omygosh, Emperor of Shmo **the turtle stamp of approval** www.soulstrum.com |

yes. they're correct. And it belonged to Don Henley of the Eagles... (that was trivial but fun...and true) How, you ask? Well, Don is an East Texas boy...from Linden. It's a small world. One of Don's friends in Linden had it and we kept hounding him to sell it...finally he did. It was pretty trashed so Stacy had it re-furbished and re-wrapped. Sweet. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Minipoppins! Your name cracks me up. I love Mary Poppins; since I was a young boy, I have wanted to marry her. Why? Because when looking for qualities in a wife, "practically perfect in every way" rides pretty high on the charts. That and she has magical powers, which is just stinkin cool. There was an artist from the Dallas area called Pop Poppins - perhaps you are related? This post is off topic. ~Poops |

thanks to everyone for the quick and thorough responses! boyd, stacys rhodes is gorgeous. how much was it to refurbish if you don't mind me asking? right now i play an older rhodes model in my band minipop. the thing weighs a ton and i'm so tired of lugging it around to all of our shows. i'm trying to replace it with one of the newer, lighter models but they're so hard to find. |

i have an 88 key suitcase with the 4x12 cabinet. it needs some work though. i've never played one that is in good condition. do you typically have to play the keys a little bit harder than an acoustic piano? how were you able to repair yours yourself/what did you do? _________________ I am Torgo. My band loves mary poppins so much that we played the movie on two tvs on either side of the stage at our last show. |

To make the keys easier to play, I used some silicon spray on the felt tips. Be careful though, some silicon sprays will corrode your hammers. If you go to www.fenderrhodes.com, there are many manuals and files on how to work on your Rhodes. Also, I believe there are a few guys floating around that website who are knowledgeable about the Rhodes. Email them, I'm sure they could help. _________________ signed: Omygosh, Emperor of Shmo **the turtle stamp of approval** www.soulstrum.com |

Where do you get the stand from? The one we're "borrowing" from a friend (it's more like a permanent loan) only has the big speaker, but it doesn't work. I also prefer the look much more. I like the simplicity. I'm guessing that if you get the stand, though, that you also have to buy a pedal that's separate from the speaker, right? _________________ oh, so they have the internet on computers now!
