This is kind of an oddball post (aren't they all?), but as Eisley is about to perform their last song "Head Against The Sky" in Toronto, Sherri gives a little closing statement and she says a word (or two?) that I don't quite understand. It's at about the 8 second mark, her dialogue is as follows:

Sherri: 'Thank you guys, this is our last song. Um, I want to thank New Found Glory for letting us come on to tour. Um, it's been really fun. Um, it might be a little too ___ ___ for most of you guys, but, umm, thanks for being nice anyways...this is our last song. It's called Head Against the Sky.'

So does anyone know what the "___ ___" is? It sounded like "foo foo" so I checked dictionary.com and found "frou-frou" with the following definition:

Quote:

frouĀ·frou also frou-frou
Pronunciation Key (frfr)
n.

1. Fussy or showy dress or ornamentation.
2. A rustling sound, as of silk.

That doesn't seem to make sense especially since she uses it as an adjective. I get the gist of what she meant by it, but it still struck me as odd. Is this some new Tyler Texas Slang / Southern Ebonics that hasn't caught on to the rest of the world yet? Any ideas?

I think it was meant to imply frilliness or similar childishness, at least compared to NFG's style. And yes, Frou Frou is a band (featuring Imogen Heap), but they don't sound much like Eisley. Their song, "Let Go," played at the end of Garden State.

But they don't really sound like Frou Frou at all...
Let Go is a totally rad song btw (found them on the Garden State soundtrack, and bought their CD)...

But you thought that was odd?

Sherri said something along the lines of "Stacy didn't want me to say this, but we're from Texas"... as if the audience would be a bit apprehensive towards Eisley because they are from Texas.

Hrm... I wonder if Boyd could enlighten us if they had any preconceptions about Montrealers, Quebecers, or Canadians attitudes towards Americans, specifically those from Texas?

i was actually there, she said frou frou. she meant that she didnt think the audience would like them and she was being self-deprecating and thinking eisley wasnt as 'hardcore' as the crowd maybe wanted which is ridiculous because eisley is amazing. frou frou in this sense basically means lighter.

Well, initially it struck me as odd because she used a word I didn't know. Now, it still strikes me as odd because she's comparing Eisley to a band that the average NFG fan has no clue about...and even still, a band that Eisley sounds nothing like.

Maybe this is just another artifact of the band coping with rising popularity...I hope that it will hit them one day that they don't have to apologize for sucking anymore because they've realized that they don't suck.

NFG fans aren't clueless. A lot of us know who Frou Frou is. They are a great band.

I don't think she was talking about the band, like people have said it means frilly, or for the lack of anything better "girly." Like rockstarcliche said its a bit of self deprecating humor

I know Sherri.
She didn't mean Frou Frou the band.
She meant "frou frou" in the frilly, light weight, kind of way.
The words probably just spilled out. She did not mean the band Frou Frou, (which we all happen to love).

It was just a figure of speech.
