hey kids! my sister and i always joked that if we performed together, we would have to cover at least one eisley song, because they were perfect for the two of us to sing together (she being more of a soprano and myself more of an alto).

so now we actually ARE going to perform together for a concert of hers to benefit a community in el salvador she visited and worked in (another story altogether, that i can flesh out upon questioning). anyway, we would love to do "memories", because that is our favorite song for both of us to sing. and i've found the guitar tab for the song - numerous times - but i never seem to find tabs for piano part that stacy plays. and its too quiet in the mix on MT EP for me to pick it out. any help? i've checked the tab threads on here but have yet to find anything other than the guitar chords.

the performance isn't for another two months, but she wants me to learn a lot of new songs, and i want to get started.

ohhh man i wish there were a lot more piano stuff for all the songs that would be awesome but i cant seem to find any, maybe someone nice enough who knows how to figure that stuff out can help you on that one. sorry.
some people have that though--where they just listen to a song and can play it.

yeah, normally i can pick things out better than this...but i literally can't find the piano in the mix a lot, and since the rhodes sounds different than a normal piano, it throws me as well.

I wish I could help, but all I have is Marvelous Things, which I did myself and I doubt it's right.

There definitely needs to be some Eisley piano sheet music out there.

take this as an opportunity. just make up your own piano parts. artistic license. its a great thing if you know what to do with it.

The guitar chords are the same chords that she plays ont he piano (neither of the tabs are perfect). From what I can tell, Stacy adds some emphasis to the first beat of each measure 90% of the time (it sounds like it's in 3/4). Other than that, there's not really that much else to it...

A Few Suggestions:

1. When listening to the EP (or Room Noises), increase the midrange on your speakers to hear the piano better, or use headphones and it'll make a big difference in how much you can hear.

2. VH1 just put up their live performances of three Eisley songs (Memories is one of them). The video sucks but the piano comes through really well the entire time.

3. Go to OGG and get the video for Memories Live at the Avalon (Snow Patrol 2004). Stacy uses a different keyboard that has a noticibly brighter sound with a stronger attack that might make it easier to pick out what notes she's playing.

4. If you aren't going to have a couple of guitars and a bass with you, you'll need to add some extra notes on top of the stuff that Stacy plays anyways, so there's no sense in trying to figure out the notes that you can't even hear on the CD if you're going to need to play another note on top of it.

5. If you're really stuck, just turn up the reverb on your amp and get a pulse going with the chords (bass note + whatever else sounds right on the first beat of each measure) and that seems to sound half-decent...Rolling Eyes

You seem to have some experience with keyboard, so this song is NOT going to be difficult to play by any means once you get the feel for it. Since Stacy doesn't really manipulate the chords that much, just stick to the 1-3-5-8 chord with your right hand and the bass note will be easy to pick out from listening.

Hope that helped...

Yeah most of the time you can pick something out by ear on the ivories....I've covered I Wasn't Prepared, Plenty Of Paper, and The Escaping song all on piano so far....it wasn't that hard...they sound close...but I wouldn't say I'm 100% right.....don't ask me to tab something out though...cause I only picked up piano a little over a year ago....meaning I suck....
