Hey all, Carrie (hisownshot) had a similar thread a couple of weeks ago (here), but now I have a similar oppurtunity. Basically a school in New Zealand has a scholarship scheme whereby one of their students visits Scotland for about a week. The obvious difference between this thing and Carrie's is that this would be hosting the guy for three nights (and two days. The days would consist of taking them to school and taking them back home again). it's not an exchange as such, but one particular host family does visit the other family from time to time. It would just require feeding them and giving them a bed. This student is male, same age as moi (16), is musical and a little bit sporty. Like me, then. I would really quite like to do it (i still stand by my "no" vote on the above thread, as a year is a very long time for these things, methinks). the case for: *He's musical [as am i] *There's a very high chance that he would be very polite and easy to get on with *it's only three days, so if we don't get on it wouldn't be too bad. *further, at school he would go to the subjects that interest him, which may not be the same as mine. the case against: * Sister may still be hanging around, before she's off to uni. *errrrr. that's it. _________________ She is handsome, she is pretty, she is the girl from Belfast City, she is courtin' one two three, please won't you tell me who is she? You can always put down some rules... ya know... "No hitting on my sis"  lol, no. just the space factor. She's 21 anyways. (and, yeh know, New Zealanders being perfectly polite would never do such a thing as that!).
Have checked with me parents (incidentally, my dad being the headmaster wouldn't actually matter), so am following up tomorrow. (and continue voting folks. when youre older and looking back, you can say you've done things like this. opportunities like these come once in a blue moon, or so I am led to believe. so take this chance. go for it I say. not much to lose, and I'm sure there is a wealth of experiences, among other things, to gain. _________________

Do it! We've hosted 2 English students for 5 days, at the same time. And 2 Danish students for 12 days, at different times. Hosting people is a lot of fun, I learn a lot and make new friends. It's worth it. Edit: We're hosting the Mexican girl. I'm really excited. _________________ my name's carrie and i love a good sandwich so if you have a sandwich, come roll with me!

Update. A friend beat me to it. At least we're on the same bus route, so i'll get to meet the chap anyways.
