I'm in a local band type thing here in my town, I guess you could call it a local band...anywho, I've not stopped talking about them since Coldplay and we'd like to cover Tree Tops. Lise, one of our female singers, sounds almost exactly like Sherri, so thats a plus. The bass and drum parts are pretty straight forward (or so our bassist and drummer says). We've only encountered 2 problems. The piano part and the guitar parts. I can't seem to figure out the piano part. Its really making me mad. I've listened to it about one million times in the last week trying and trying to go note for note with stacy, but she's killing me! Does anyone know of any online sheet music the band's scanned, or made, or anything at all that would make the process a little less labour intensive? Also, our guitarist is telling me the same thing. She says its pretty tough! She can't find a tab or anything anywhere. We'd all like Eisley to hurry up and get huge so other better guitarists will tab their songs (or Chantelle and Sherri could do it Wink).

I would also like to ask permission of the band to play Tree Tops as a cover in a few live shows and possibly record it in the future. I'm not sure if I need to get anything signed to record it, or if WB will break our arms or something like that. So I figured I'd just ask.

Also, if you guys are ever in Canada again, near Toronto, there's this little town of a venue that'd do almost anything for you guys to come here and even just play the EP. Almost this whole town (the local music scene that is) is crazy for Eisley.

Thanks,

the funny thing is that just the other day i was thinking about trying to tab out some eisley stuff... i haven't yet... but i think it would be fun to be able to play eisley on guitar or piano. only problem is im not a girl and so i don't sing like one (much less like two)... so i don't think it would be the same.

That's so cool. But yeah, watch Stacy at live shows when she plays keyboard really well. Since I like mallot instruments, I would switch the keyboard part with Bells.

Well, I have most of the piano down now, but our guitarist is still having a trick of a time. She's telling me that she's about to quit. That would suck, but she'll try more.

I think you can cover a song....free country... I dunno the rules on that really. Eisley played a club where they wanted to cover a Beatles song and the venue wouldn't let them play it...because they'd have to pay ascap or whoever for it. It's like publishing. Anytime you use someone elses material/songs to entertain your patrons...you're in essence using their songs to benefit your club...which makes you money. So, most venues aren't strict like that...but hey, just so we can both learn, I'll ask Dave Holmes; he'll know.

On the recording it? I think WB would break your arms and feed them to a pack of medium sized (very bloody) snow yetti's. I do know that's like...well, you can't do it. I wanted to record Jimmy's "Purple Haze" in the style of the Monkee's and...well, they said I could if i ate one large donkey in one sitting. I told them I couldn't do it sitting...So, there you have it.

But...that's nice that you guys want to cover an Eisley song. I'm sure the band would be flattered and honored....just make sure you do it in their classic "acid pop-punk" style.

Ahem...Dearest Andy,
sorry you had to put up with my husband's silly discriptions. Sometimes I just worry about the things that go on in his head Rolling Eyes

As far as recording, I do believe that you have to get some kind of official permission from WB.

Good luck on the chords.

I'd eat one large donkey in one sitting with a punk rock goat as an appetizer if eisley would put out a fake book (one of those songbooks that has tabs and chords and stuff). Or does that have to be done by someone else not associated with the band, like an unauthorized fake book or something? I'm not making any sense am I? Confused
