As I can see (or rather obviously everyone can see), everyone's summer is winding down to an end (mostly for high school kids).
So as a response to the "How is your summer going" thread, here's the "Rate your summer thread!"

Name like five key events you had. Good and/or bad. Then choose the poll thing accordingly.

I'll start off.

1. Went to New York City/Virginia Beach
2. Got my driver's license.
3. Talked to Chauntelle on the phone Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
4. Saw General Sherman play (yes, it did make my week.)
5. Had to do summer reading and e-mail reports and papers to my AP English teacher. Sad

Hopefully people will do this! It would be fun.

1. went to Lesotho and South Africa on holiday.
2. went to Scripture Union camp (AV4, again - this was my fourth time), where (are sup-divisions allowed?):
3: god really really spoke to me for the first time
4: discovered Stereo Deluxx, an absolutely awesome Christian rock band.
5. um. um. er... had to dress up as a woman for a stupid dance thing (we had to choreograph a song for the Rundy MC version of Walk This Way. And i was the lead woman). that was neh (the new Meh!).

all in all, a pretty awesome summer.

My summer was pretty bad. Why, you ask?

Well.

1. I got dumped by the guy I love.
2. I got dumped by the guy I love for the second time, FOR his best friend this time.
3. My parents gave me a curfew (3am...)
4. I ditched my friends all the time.

Reasons why it was good:

1. Went on a trip to Atlanta.
2. I realized how awesome my best friend was.

I hate to see that there's more bad than good, but whatever.

My summer was pretty good. Could have been better, but I still had a good time. It went by too fast and now I'm stuck in my second week of school.
Anyway... five things I did...

1. Saw Hot Hot Heat, Eisley, and World Leader Pretend... and met all of Hot Hot Heat, Jonathan, and Weston. It was a blast.
2. Got to go to Gainesville a few times (I love it there) -- BUT I did not get to see the guy I like. So that was a negative.
3. I had a great Fourth of July at a party full of people that all ranged from 2 to 15 years older than me. Great stuff. I swear, most people my age suck.
4. Spent about 10 hours outside straight at the beach/pool... fun stuff.
5. 56 hours of band camp!

If you reverse that you've got the reason my summer was pretty bad. *hugs*

Reasons it has been good:
1.) Playing The Neverhood (possibly the most amazing computer game ever created)
2.) Seeing REM
3.) Making a music video for On A Green Mountain, Near A WHite Lake by M83
4.) Listening to a ridiculous amount of music

Bad:
I worked all summer.
I stressed out about how to pay for this semester of school.
I didn't leave East Texas.
My beloved German Sheperd, Nismo, died.
My car does not have an AC.

Good:
My stepdad is paying for my school.
I got engaged. :5r (<-- kitty stepped on the keyboard and made that face. lol)
I moved into a new house.
I got two kittens.

1) I saw Eisley.
2) I had money.
3) I didn't have to do a lot of yard work.

It was pretty ok.

What's summer? Oh, you mean when there's less traffic going to work ...

As far as the monts of June, July and August ... so far I've had the absolutely had the best time. I've seen Eisley about 4-ish times, traveled around (New York, Pennsylvania), made/met some really awesome friends ... etc. If summer is over now by any standard (the students are back in school around here), I've probably had the best one ever. Very Happy

I was overdrawn for the second time this year. My car has all kinds of crap wrong with it that we can't fix until school starts up. My roommate turned into an insufferable slacker who doesn't tell me when we have late bills and has let the dirty dishes sit for over a month (it's her turn). I have missed two Eisley tours and will miss a third. I found out I have to take 18 credit hours this fall and next spring or else I can't graduate when I want to. The guy I like (and gave my number to) has been seen with at least two other girls and continues to be a frustrating and emotional devastating presence in my life. I lost my job.

But then I got a new job that makes me $10 an hour and basically amounts me writing and surfing the Internet all day long. My mom got the job she needs, which means she'll be able to help me fix my car and pay off student loans and the like. My parents are managing my money and making sure I don't go into debt again. I'm moving back in with them to save even more money, and I'm derned happy about it, too. I still have my U2 tickets for December. I still have my guitars. I still have my iPod. I still have my PowerBook. I still have my fish.

Honestly, I don't think I can complain at all.
