I just read on rollingstone.com that Eisley is going to be on a Christmas compilation cd with bands like Dave Matthews and the Flaming Lips. It says the song is called "The Winter Song". Is this true? False? Cool? Awesome? Rufus Wainwright, "Spotlight on Christmas" Eisley, "The Winter Song" Avril Lavigne and Chantal Kreviazik, "O Holy Night" Rilo Kiley, "Xmas Cake" Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan, "Silent Night" Guster, "Donde Esta Santa Claus?" Be Good Tanyas, "Rudy" Dave Matthews Band, "Christmas Song" Oh Susanna, "Go Tell It on the Mountain" Barenaked Ladies, "Green Christmas" Martina Sorbera, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" Badly Drawn Boy, "Donna and Blitzen" Flaming Lips, "White Christmas" Sixpence None the Richer, "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" _________________ Um... moving on. |

Kyle, I can't believe Boyd didn't play you THE WINTER SONG that is going on that cd while you were here the other day. Sorry we were all so busy. Finally got most everything organized, but haven't sat down to listen/watch the DVD you brought over. 24hr. stomach virus hit me Saturday night Here's the link: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/newsarticle.asp?nid=18654 |

Kyle B wasn't at our house. But, yes it's true Kyle. It's a non-traditional song....sort of seasonal...lyrically: (verse)"walking home with the snow...it is falling down...passing by lit windows...the people inside they wave from the glow... Chimney smoke billowing , snowfakes on my lashes...oh, starry night.. I was walking and singing this song....(singin') La, lah, la-lah.....(chorus) (repeat first verse with stacy's harmonies) (bridge:) it's that day again...it's that time of year...with our smiling faces...we will sing with cheer...la - la lah lah..." (chorus - builds with guitar in background, ends...leaves me wishing it wasn't over...) Stylistically, it just sounds like a nice, dreamy, siamese harmonic, Eisley song with a slow cadence with a nice, swelling, build (and some nice guitar/keyboard sounds). Very much just a song they wrote not intended for this record, but...when they asked Eisley to be on the compilation, this one surfaced. They didn't have time for anything else. And the recording engineering/producing was essentially done in a day here at RoseWood Studios in Tyer - where Coldplay's Dan Green is now poised to "take out" some songs that will go on the new EP. bd _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. all this talk of eisley and the winter song is academic, if I can't actually get the CD. and I don't see anything here about how to procure a copy of this illusive recording. So, how do I get my hands on a copy? hum? riddle me that! _________________ So there I go, Without my no. Only a yes And passive aggressiveness. |

toe tapping? markymark....you sillysill. It makes me want to close my eyes and sway. But lots of people probably won't want to deal with a new song on a Christmas record... you know, bring on "WE WISH YOU A..." or "Rockin' around, the Christmas tree..." or "my fav's are the cooler hymns - but Avril has my very most fav' covered. Actually, it's a pretty cool lineup. I can't believe eisley is on this cd, can you guys? (can YAWL?) ...and they're the 2nd song, which is the best position in my opinion. craziness. I'll call Darin from Nettwerk (eisley management - who does this entire project by himself) today and ask him about the release date. oh my head...uptil3:30am and upat7:15am _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Hey cool, Boyd. Your favorite Christmas hymn is my favorite Christmas hymn, too. As a young un, though, I once Frankensteined it into a deuling banjos sort of thing via Finale Notepad. It was a sad but amusing thing. And it's still one of the prettiest Christmas hymns. Just maybe not as deuling banjos. _________________ I highly recommend it. |
