just something i found interesting when i asked a few friends earlier, all their lyics contained the word you.

what do you suppose that means? i think it's because the strongest emotions conveyed through song lyrics, are charged towards other people (typically someone you love), therefore, they contain "you".

Rest in my arms
Sleep in my bed
There's a design
to what I did and said...

Nope

Oh comely I will be with you when you lose your
breath chasing the only meaningful memory you
thought you had left with some pretty bright and
bubbly terrible scene that was doing her thing on
your chest but oh comely it isn't as pretty as
you'd like to guess
in your memory you're drunk on your awe to me
it doesn't mean anything at all
oh comely all of your friends are letting you blow
bristling and ugly bursting with fruits falling out
from the holes of some pretty bright and bubbly
friend you could need to say comforting things in
your ear but oh comely there isn't such one
friend that you could find here standing next to
me he's only my enemy I'll crush him with
everything I own
say what you want to say and hang for your
hollow ways moving your mouth to pull out all
your miracle for me
your father made fetuses with flesh licking ladies
while you and your mother were asleep in the
trailer park thunderous sparks from the dark of
the stadiums the music and medicine you
needed for comforting so make all your fat fleshy
fingers to moving and pluck all your silly strings
and bend all your notes for me soft silly music is
meaningful magical the movements were
beautiful all in your ovaries all of them milking
with green fleshy flowers while powerful pistons
were sugary sweet machines smelling of semen
all under the garden was all you were needing
when you still believed in me
say what you want to say and hang for your
hollow ways moving your mouth to pull out all
your miracle for me
and I know they buried her body with others her
sister and mother and 500 families and will she
remember me 50 years later I wished I could
save her in some sort of time machine know all
your enemies we know who are enemies are
know all your enemies we know who our
enemies are
Goldaline my dear we will fold and freeze
together far away from here there is sun and
spring and green forever but now we move to
feel for ourselves inside some stranger's stomach
place your body here let your skin begin to blend
itself with mine

That does though, but I still said no since that was my favoritest doesn't

-Ben

Every artist is a cannibal
Every poet is a thief
All kill their inspiration
And sing about the grief

That's a no, but I'm and artist and a poet, which means it relates to me directly nonetheless.

Interesting poll. I've noticed over years of churchgoing that old hymns, the kind with seven verses and lots of big words, will sing directly to God or about God, while contemporary worship music contains the word "I" far more often, and talks about what God has done for me the Christian without necessarily mentioning God by name. It's a rather disturbing trend, and leads me to wonder if inward-focused Christian music leads to inward-focused Christians.

slam another door.
feign another war,
booby trap my trail,
knowing it will fail,
shrapnel for your tears,
everyday it nears,
a place where i will cheer,
me home.

yep!

You hide behind your broken wings,
your dreams are full of better things.
And, in the dark we climb the slope,
cuz the bravest thing of all is always hope.

Yup.

It'll be a day like this one
When the sky falls down and the hungry and poor and deserted are found
Are you discontented? Have you been pushing hard?
Have you been throwing down this broken house of cards?

3 times.

The Rocket Summer - Never Knew

But no, none of it's true cuz I never knew you
and now the truth of it is, is I wanna be like you
So hello, good friend, I wanna be next to you
For my head for my heart for its true

My favorite lyric is from Lovedrug's Angels With Enemies:

A cold love, bloody knuckle, trigger-finger riding on the edge of mind.

I don't really have a favourite lyric, but I do like this one (you may know it. Infact, the changes of you knowing it are high):

I'm Mr Amateur, with a cupcake
I'm Mr Amateur, on the freeway.

so from that, no.

when I'm drinking Everclear
Think I'm king of this whole world
Bigger 'n badder than John Wayne
And cooler than Steve Earle
When I wake up in the morning
face down in the hall
Hey I'm completely naked
for a reason I cant recall
and I'm kinda sorta hopin
that maybe I met a chick
cause there's purfume in the air
and there's lipstick on my neck
and I hope that she was pretty
and I hope that she was kind
enough to leave my clothes somewhere
they're easy to find

so nope.
