So yeah, Eisley is making a LOT of Best Of 2005 lists this year, so I figured there ought to be one post for all the links. I'll start, please feel free to post links or cut and paste anything you happen to find online. http://www.christianitytoday.com/music/reviews/2005/2005bestof.html CHRISTIANITY TODAY- ROOM NOISES- Number 10 EISLEY Meet the heir apparent to the Christian alternative pop throne left vacant when Sixpence None the Richer called it quits in 2004. Not that Eisley is a direct copycat with their more floating and dream-like progressive pop. But the vocal resemblance is uncanny between Leigh Nash and the gloriously tuned harmonies of Eisley sisters Stacy and Sherri DuPree. This mostly all-in-the-family band of home-schooled Christians isn't blatant about faith in their lyrics, but there are still hints of faith, hope, and love to be found in their poetry, which reads like something out of Narnia or Middle Earth. "Memories" illustrates grace in its depiction of ugly things made new, and "Lost at Sea" could possibly be interpreted as a worship song. If Eisley can make music this artful and haunting barely out of their teens, imagine how they'll mature in the next five to ten years. _________________ Don't you let them tell you you're an ugly child. They are blind to the beauty that lies within |

Blender should be ashamed of themselves for leaving Eisley off of their top 100 songs of 2005, especially considering all the rubbish that actually made it on the list. And why does every critic have his/her lips fastened to Kanye West's crap dispenser? It's a decent CD but jeez... |

well i think eisley deserves to be on every best of 2005 list because they just rock. "i know there are a bunch of people going duh right now" _________________ But I cannot discover any advantage except in honor, in glory, and in right action. Therefore I consider these goals to be primary and supreme over all others. Cicero |

I don't know if this should even count as a top ten list. I mean, they gave album of the year to Switchfoot... Not that I have anything against Switchfoot, but... come on... _________________ EvilSpace |

Let me give this a try: Sailing over wave and tide oh ho ho Fantastic waves against our sides oh ho ho And I'm not so afraid Lost at sea, as i should be And I'm not so afraid Lost at sea, you and I, you and me Congratulations Cause we've made it All the way home All the way home And you know that Until the stars fall I will always love you I will always love you The mystery of salt and sea oh ho ho Has never been intriguing oh ho ho And to me but the sea Green is set so beautifully Against your thoughtful face That I must close my eyes And turn my face Congratulations Cause we've made it All the way home All the way home And you know that Until the stars fall I will always love you I will always love you Still floating soft I am dreaming and I'm glad I lost And still with my fingers I'm drawing circles in the water In the water And still, still you're always there Congratulations Cause we've made it All the way home All the way home And you know that Until the stars fall I will always love you I will always love you So the "you" could be referring to God. Not afraid because God is always along for the ride. All the way home could be referring to heaven. So I could see why a Christian reviewer of this song, coming from Eisley, could conclude this was a Christian based song. Though only Eisley knows for sure what they intended, and every listener should draw their own conclusions, I think. |

http://www.riverfronttimes.com/Issues/2005-12-21/news/feature4.html 3) Eisley, Room Noises (Warner Brothers): Straight outta small-town Texas — but sounding more like the house band of a verdant magical forest, or Rilo Kiley's ambitious babysitting charge — Eisley fulfills the whimsical indie-rock promise of its first few EPs with Room Noises. Swooping choruses and twinkling-stardust harmonies unfold from the drawling vocal sister act of Sherri and Stacy DuPree, sirens with just a whisper of twang in their voices, while Eisley's music incorporates bits of genial Coldplay-esque Britpop, coffeehouse jam sessions and glimmering, crushed-velvet rock. |
