If this is the wrong place for this, all apologies. This is pretty much a request from a couple of New Orleans teens: On behalf of me, and a few other Eisley fans, we would like to request a chance for the stop at the House of Blues to include people under eighteen. The last time Eisley came through here, the concert was at the same place, and if I recall correctly it was an all ages concert. However, we didn't get to go since we were out of town. This time around we'd like to be able to go. Please please please. If you do, it will be our first concert of the year [besides our first concert since the hurricane.] At any rate, we'd really appreciate that change, or at least an explanation of why it can't be all ages. Thanks. _________________ 'cause in my head there's a greyhound station Where I can send my thoughts to far-off destinations |

Thanks. Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was an Eisley request or a venue issue, so I didn't really know who to address first. [Thanks for emailing] _________________ 'cause in my head there's a greyhound station Where I can send my thoughts to far-off destinations |

ok... ya'll roosted me out of my bright, sluggy cave. Now that I'm out here, I only wish i had a good answer... cuz what I'm about to say will make you pick up bright rocks and hurl them headlong toward me. Here's the short answer: SOME clubs/promoters won't do the "all age" dance with you, no matter how hard you beg. Eisley has been to New Orleans 2 times only. Once w/ New Found in the big room (House of Blues) as an opener and ONCE - the Summer Scenic headlining tour - in the small room (Parish). It was an 18+ show. And, it wasn't a great turn out. I'd say we had... maybe 250 max in the 400 cap room. You have to understand something... promoters are in it to make money; not for the art. Well, perhaps that's not fair. Some might really love the art. But, sometimes, in order to give bands a chance... and in order to strike a deal with a big agent they like working with, they'll agree to do shows that they're not sure will do so well. To minimize their risk (of only 200 kids showing up) they bump the age to an older, drinking market just so they can subsidize the door (ticket sales from warm bodies) and sell alcohol (good profit from even warmer bodies) to make it worth their while. On the good side: The main reason why Eisley is getting so many all age shows on this tour is because they're starting to be a really good gamble. In other words, promoters are starting to smell $. I guess it's just a very natural - a very human thing to do So... back to New Orleans. I just think they're probably not on board yet. Add what's happened down there and it starts to make sense. It's a club, they want to bring in bands and sell liquor... bring life back into the hurting city. Even more true: they probably can't afford to take a hit. They have to be profitable... business is slowly coming back, but if given the risk, they'll take the bird in the hand. IT WILL CHANGE. There will be all age shows in your zone eventually. In the mean time, i'm super sorry. I hate it. I will personally decree and raise all kinds of boyd-rukus before the next tour... I'll throw my weight around. (oh wait.) Seriously, I'll say... "ok, lissen-up. New Orleans fans have had enuf. We have to find a different nearby club that will do all ages if HOB won't dance with us..." That's the best I can do. hey, it especially pains me. I was born in New Orleans. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Promters are going to find out that thanks to them choosing the booze crowd. The neglected "all ages" market is about to explode. I told you what was going on my way and how successful it has become. So, younger kids be patient because it is going to be what Napster was to the big labels. A huge money maker that they refused to buy into until it became a billion dollar success. I hope Eisley's management will see this before everyone else. I know the booker for HOB and will call him and see if it can be changed. But, it is in the French Quarter at night. |

I'll definitely be there, but most of my Eisley friends are still 17. :'( They are so upset they can't go! Agh, it's horrible. But thanks for trying Boyd. Those venue people are a Pain. _________________ xanga | livejournal | photobucket | what I'm listening to |

That totally stinks. HOB has been like that before. I can understand that they'd have a problem with it.. But come on. They have had a twelve year old girl playing there before, and it wasn't an all ages show. [local artist] Weird..or what? :looks around for nearby showings that are all ages: Hmmmm. [I need to find other Eisley fans in my area. I didn't realize there are so many of them.] _________________ 'cause in my head there's a greyhound station Where I can send my thoughts to far-off destinations |
