and eisley is helping me through it. i'm not trying to be tacky, and i'm not saying that eisley is single-handedly making me feel better, or that they're the only band i'm listening to. i'm just saying that they are helping me. and i want to thank them. so, thank you eisley. sorry i'm a little emotional and blah i'm not really making sense. just... if you pray, please pray for my brother, Elliot. _________________ mikeconnor1 wrote: their voices are like the sirens of the greek mythologies. |

Music is really great to help people get through things. Especially Eisley's music. I think they're music helps you realize that there is a positive side to everything. And although there is so much bad in the world, there is also some pretty incredible, and wonderful things too. My uncle went to Iraq. I'll pray. |

thanks a lot, guys. it really means a lot to me. the Navy doesn't get much "action", as they say. they mostly deal with technology and what not... so i'm not really worried about him getting killed. but it's still frightening. there's more of a chance he might have to go fight for the US. but thanks again guys! _________________ mikeconnor1 wrote: their voices are like the sirens of the greek mythologies. |

patrol the sea for immigrant ships / pirates? (i'm serious about the pirates, contrary to our cartoony image of pirates, I know they are a real problem, at least in asia) I was in the Nav for several years and I can tell you that I never got into a fight with anyone while I was in. Pirates are more in the jurisdiction of the Coast Guard. What Mackswell means is that, for the most part, our people on boats aren't in much danger. The pilots who fly sorties from our ships to go bomb people do put themsleves in a bit more danger. For the most part, nowadays we don't fight people who are a threat or on par with us technologically. This makes us much safer on ships in the middle of the Persian Gulf. Well safe from the people we're bombing at least. Perhaps not safe from ourselves. Of course there will be incidents such as what happened to the USS Cole, but since then the Navy has stepped up its precautions when ships do pull into ports in the Gulf. Personally, I think pulling into port in the Gulf at all is pointless. There is nothing to do but go buy rugs and good smoke for your hookah. Oh, and get super-trashed from the booze the chiefs are selling. JD _________________ "Well, hopefully that's our job, to strap rockets onto everything." - Adam Savage, Mythbusters |
