I don't know if I'll get an answer for this, but it's worth a shot...

Does anyone know if "Sandra" is a real person or just someone Stacy made up?

Just curious...

Hmm... I don't know. I didn't think Stacy would write such a song about a girl unless it was about a family member or close friend. But maybe you're right... maybe the character is made up Confused

They make a lot of people up. Most of their songs aren't personal.

Could have been a name she gave for someone she read about in a book, or anything like that.

that is a good point. i was reading some of the lyrics to "room noises" the other day. i thought to myself, "how much of this stuff is really made up?" because sometimes i think that some of those lyrics have some"living" going on in them. what do you guys think?

well i believe the song is a father talking to his daughter, i think that is what stacy has said and the lyrics make sense with that -- so if that is the case then yes it is obviously made up.
just like if you were to write a fictional book and have a character named sandra.. it doesn't mean you KNOW someone named sandra. song writing can go the same way.

I think that's cool, to write fictional tales in music. That's away from the norm.

Yeah that makes sense... about a father talking to his daughter. I never thought of that before, so thanks Very Happy

but isn't the song itself about like a parent saying "golly Sandra, you've grown up really crazy"....like it's from a mother or fathers point of view.

kim is just saying how the name sandra might have been chosen for the song.
and i'm pretty sure it's a father talking to his daughter.

I think it is just made up, but even if it was for just a girl why would it matter?

Thank you! Even though the song is clearly about a parent/daughter relationship (to me), I wouldn't find it necessary to make a big deal if it was a love song to a girl. I don't mean to sound rude but there've been several posts like this.
