Besides all of the war horse stuff, it makes me think of a hospital because ... there's a nurse (with an ivory chin But, um, the song is NOT about a hospital! I know that. _________________ **Dear, did you know that people love each other** **Just like we do?** |

well if you take the lyrics litterally, and not in any strange metaphoric sence, then I think that it is about a person at war. I think it starts off showing fear, and then I think the chorus shows that there is still nice, beautiful things, and although he/they might die, they are living at that moment and they should be thankful and enjoying it. Then I think he/they get injured and goes to a nurse/hospital. And then fell in love with the nurse. Thats what I think. I think its a war-love story. Something like Pearl Harbour. |

It seems like a sad war story to me. The chorus says that we'll wake up, but somehow that's just not the vibe I'm getting. It's like in the movies when the soldier is holding his dying friend, and tries to ease his last moments by telling him it'll be ok. Or the one stranded platoon left in the bunker counting the minutes before they're overrun. That's what the song seems like to me. Hope when there is no hope. Luckily, if the soldiers hold on long enough, the track will end and Trolleywood will kick in, and they'll all be at peace. _________________

Well, what I got out of it was that it's a song about life, death and life after death. Wake up (from death?) in the morning (afterlife?) Wake up the sun is beautiful, and it is warming you and I, fragile as we lie (in our graves?) Anyway, just my thoughts _________________ ...the language confuses like computers refuse to understand how I'm feeling today... King Gallon: "You used Oswald to fight Darkova!? I think if we could figure out which book she read just before writing this song, we would know for sure what it's about. It would be nice if she could read these posts and come on here and give the answer, but then that would probably just spoil the fun and creativity of the members of this forum in interpreting the song the way they see them. Kind of like seeing a movie after reading the book, one of the worst things to do after you've invented the characters and the scenery in your head then seeing it interpreted wrong (according to whats in your head) by the filmaker. |

How I see it: One day I slowly floated away One day I slowly floated away (Leaving one's body upon death?) All the war horses wore rubber bands To hide their hooves from sinking sand (A tank would make the most sense to me, with bands to keep it from sinking in sand. I think this also places the setting as a soldier who died at war) The commander in charge was hoping that Their destiny was not to die (self explanatory) Wake up in the morning I shall wake up, and so shall you And I wake up, the sun is beautiful And it is warming you and I Fragile as we lie (Heaven? Eternal Life?) Hard to foresee the future Our bodies are growing thin Glimpsing the peeling paint off The nurses ivory chin (One's body grows quite thin when it is dead and decaying. I think the person who died is looking down and seeing themself dead in the hospital. The peeling paint off the nurses ivory chin -- hmmm. Maybe makeup?) You've got a lot of nerve coming here Your eyes are beating rhythms way Faster than the speeding bullet that Took the life of your radio (A fellow soldier comes to the hospital where the dead soldier lies. Eyes beating rhythms way faster than the speeding bullet that took the life of your radio -- the soldier is looking to get out of the hospital quickly so as to not be reminded of their own mortality, the radio was probably shot up at the same time as the one soldier who died was). Wake up in the morning I shall wake up, and so shall you And I wake up, the sun is beautiful And it is warming you and I Fragile as we lie And in the corner chair Soft and soap-scented My darling cries apologies We foresee the mercy that's been shown My young limbs will not go unthanked or unseen (the dead soldier's darling is crying apologies because they didn't get a chance to before. Apparently the soldier and their darling had previously spoke about what would it be like if the soldier died. And the darling is there, seeing to it that the soldier gets their due metals and praise and honor). Wake up in the morning I shall wake up, and so shall you And I wake up, the sun is beautiful And it is warming you and I Fragile as we lie Ohhh, ahhh Ohhh, ahhh |
