i couldn't love eisley more than i already do...

but

one of their songs is tiled "brightly wound"

which evokes confusion...

is it

"wound"

or

"wound"

????

confused?

wound: To be twisted or whorled into curved forms.

or

wound: a physical injury to the body

Wound, as in the twisty way.

That tricky English language.

P.S. I don't mean that in a rude way. It's just tricky. ha

Now, this is funny. At first I couldn't make sense of what the question was. Then I realized that the first one was "woond" while the second one was "wownd" No idea why, but that's how they were for me once I read it a second time, and no other way.

I've had bright wounds before. Blood can be quite bright red Laughing

I've always just guessed it was the twisty "wound" but it's a good question. I remember I had a similar problem when a song had "live" in the title and I didn't know what meaning it meant.

I've never thought it was wound (wooned) because that doesn't make sense.

does brightly wound (wow-ned) make much more sense than (wooned)?

It's 6 on one hand, Half a dozen on the other to me

Wownd is the only one that can make sense. "Brightly" is an adverb. Wooned is a noun, and can't be modified by an adverb. Wownd is a part tense verb, and can be modified by an adverb. Thus, it has to be wownd.

i think we should adopt the German umlaut.
Wound - to be twirled or spun
Wünd - an injury
see? much simpler.

If we were going to go all German though, it would be waund and Wünd. Of course, we've have to deal with the German 'w's being pronouced like the English 'v', but I think we would be able to handle that.

I kinda like the look of that...

Tightly --> Brightly. Tightly wound makes sense. When I read brightly wound I imagine a warm glowing hug.
