There's nothing wrong with someone making an offer to be in a band. But there's also nothing wrong with rejecting said offer (though I think it should be done professionally). A lot of great bands never would have happened if someone hadn't lobbied at a closed door (Eisley).

Stacy wanted to be in the band, but Chauntelle and Sherri weren't interested. But she persisted and proved herself worthy.

But I probably missed part of the point. I'm recovering from a week-plus of illness, and I'm half a country away from home.

Is the clarinet hard to add because it's inappropriate to the style of music you play?

Tell him to save heis pennies, buy a wind controller/synth rig, and then come back and you'll talk.
=)

I've basically been in this band for a few months, we've written songs, figured out covers, learned jazz charts and played gigs. And we have a gig on Friday, so I told my clarinet playing friend he should come and bring friends, since it's at an ice skate arena.

And he proceeded to say things like, "I want to jam!" (we don't just jam, byw) and "I wish I could play!" and "I want to be in a band... but you probably don't want a clarinet..."

So I said, "Well, clarinet would be hard to add" and he said, get this... "Not really"

WAY to make it awkward.

Tell your friend no, straight up. Don't leave false hope if there really is no hope.

Edit - I voted no because I have no musical talent.

It's situational really.

Haha, it took me about 15 seconds to figure that out. I was like, "No, it can't be John." Then I was like, "Oh, I'm dumb."

Someone hasn't been studying their Eisley history very much.
