Some of you may or may not remember this from after Room Noises but what we did was narrow down, throught voting, what the best Eisley song was. Now that Combinations has been released (along with some random b-sides in between like The Escaping Song,) it's time to do it again. The idea is to find out which songs kick ass, and which ones, well... Last time around I took PMs from people, and I'd tally up the votes myself. This time around, there are way too many of you to do that, and I'm also lazy, so I'm going to copy an idea from another music forum. Here's the structure. I'll break it down into 3 categories: Combinations (including LTA and MKD,) Room Noises, and the B-sides and the EPs (EP1-Marvy Things.) In order to be on the list, the songs MUST be recorded in the studio. No strictly live tracks from the old days like Cobalt or something. We'll be using the latest version of each song, so if you're favorite Telescope Eyes was on the LC EP, tough. Each track will be given 4 points. Everyone can vote once a day on each of the 3 categories. The votes will be a -1 to one song per category that is their least favorite, and will also give a +1 to their favorite song, or a song they don't want to be elimintaed. Once a song reaches zero, it should be taken off the list by the next person. This will proceed until there is three songs left until each category, and then those 9 will be compiled into a final list. Quick Rules Rundown 1)Only vote once a day 2)Post in the format that AwakeandLovingit started later on this page 3)Add one point to a song, and take away a point from another in each category 4)Delete a song if your vote makes it reach zero 5)Double check after you update to make sure no one posted at the same time as you. We don't want any points to get screwed up! Room Noises Memories Telescope Eyes I Wasn't Prepared Golly Sandra Marvelous Things Brightly Wound Lost at Sea My Lovely Just Like We Do Plenty of Paper One Day I Slowly Floated Away Trolley Wood Combinations Many Funerals Invasion Taking Control Go Away I Could Be There For You Come Clean Ten Cent Blues A Sight to Behold Combinations If You're Wondering Like The Actors Marsh King's Daughter EPs and B-Sides Tree Tops Over The Mountains Laughing City Sea King The Winter Song Vintage People Head Against the Sky The Escaping Song Mr Pine Dream For Me Pretender Blackened Crown Sun Feet Wings and Windows They All Surrounded Me Silver Bugs Sleepy Head Lullaby So this thread is for any suggestions, I'm going to start this up tomorrow officially so I can get some input first. Did I miss any studio song? Should we have 3 different threads? Should we include songs like Cobalt or Becoming You? What about We Feel Good and the other Combination rejects? |

Silver Bugs is a fantastic song and needs to be properly recorded. Good list, so far. I gots no complaints. This suddenly reminded me of a voting effort I wanted to start once Combinations was released (based on something I saw on the Ozma boards)... but I'd forgotten about it until now. But now that you're doing this... I see little point in doing it any more. So bravo to you for being on the ball!
