and I am addicted to Eisley. But, this isn't a cry for help. I don't want help. I want this addiction to take over my entire being, because it makes me feel good, kind of like a drug, except there are no negative side effects. A few examples of my addiction include not listening to any other band in the last 3 weeks (since I found them), spending my lunch breaks in my car so I can listen to them, and spending the 5 hours before my lunch break thinking about which songs I want to hear during my break, taking my iPod everywhere so I can listen to them (the grocery store, the golf course, the movie theater so I can listen until the movie starts, even the bathroom... haha, ok ok, just kidding about that... or am I??). Has anyone gone through this? Maybe we should start an "Eisley Anonymous" support group. Actually, that's probably what this board is. |

Nope, I found them just before Combinations. I was looking at someones list of favorite artists on facebook, she had a similar musical taste as me, so I decided to choose a random band on her list that I hadn't heard of, and it just happened I chose Eisley. Looked up their myspace page and I heard Telescope Eyes first, loved it. I can't remember the other songs they had at the time besides Invasion. But I listened to them all and loved them all. So I bought Room Noises on iTunes, and pre-ordered Combinations. By the time Combinations came, I had already heard every song off Room Noises at least 20 times. Right now I'm in my Combinations binge phase, but still slipping in some Room Noises songs as well. And I also have thier Telescope Eyes EP, Head Against The Sky EP, and Final Noise EP (just their songs) from iTunes. Still in the process of getting all their really early stuff. Oh and I've also ordered Room Noises on vinyl, should be here today, I can't wait. It's just so much more fun listening to vinyl than anything else. So did I pass the addiction test? And that was a dumb question of mine, asking if anyone has gone through what I am. Of course, you all have. |

hey. welcome. For some older (much older) songs, here's a link. http://www.trolleywood.com/music.html most of those songs were made before the two eps before room noises came out. If you can look for the Marvelous Things and Laughing City EPs. They stopped printing them a few years back but some places still have them. |

if what you say is completely true, then no i have not ever gone through what you have.....and i suggest you stop because you will get really sick of the band very fast. it does happen! _________________ But I cannot discover any advantage except in honor, in glory, and in right action. Welcome! Yeah, if you get sick of things, it's time to force some other music in there. Burnout is such a bad thing, and it's even worse when it happens to a band as good as Eisley. Otherwise, you have impeccable music taste. ha ha. You should check out some simliar/buddy bands. Try Midlake, whose two albums and an EP can offer a nice break, while keeping you in Eisley's neighborhood. Pilotdrift is excellent, too. That's kind of how it happened for me, except there were only a few songs to get back in 2003, and I didn't listen to them quite so much. But I get really into bands where I mostly just listen to them for a while. However, I discovered so many good, new bands through this forum that I have so many to pick from. Helps keeps things balanced, and fresh for longer. Anyway, glad you like them! You've come to the right place. ha. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

Yes. I've DEFINITELY gone through an Eisley addiction over past whatever 3+ years. I first read about em in some Texas magazine, I probably thought, "Hmm... interesting. Homeschoolers, like me, etc." Then I listened to them maybe a year later (04) and it was Marvelous Things/Sea King ALL summer. I pretty much told everyone I knew about them. I was known as "eisley" to some. Some people dug it (a lot)... others, not so much. I had one jerkface even yell like an ignoramus "Eisley's dumb!" So yeah. Don't feel weird. EDIT: Thank you for linking the http://www.trolleywood.com/music.html... I just learned a new trick. I think I love mp3s. _________________ the thrill of Hope... the weary world rejoices. |

It's certainly happened/happening to me. I've been keeping up with Eisley for two-ish or three-ish years now. It hasn't changed and I don't want it to either. It's a good feeling. To me personally, I feel as if I've found something that caters to all the things I'd like to get from music. I'm getting creativity, unique quality, intelligence, wittiness, inventiveness. I could go on but my lack of creativity would only produce more synonyms. The fact that the band keeps journals and that they make the best effort they can to keep in touch with us makes me want to stick around even more. I love reading about their lives, their perspectives. Whether it be Stacy's hugely articulate deliveries or Weston's occasional post (hey, journal-ing isn't for everyone. He does the best he can). I also like that the band lacks the vulgarity most bands just come with (something I don't appreciate, gets old, unimaginative and abrasive). You're getting something different with this band, it isn't just the same thing. I think that's something everyone finds wonderful and refreshing. I haven't gotten tired thus far, and I hope I never do. |

I haven't gotten tired thus far, and I hope I never do. I don't exactly listen to Eisley every day (though for stretches I do), but I have been going on four years strong as a big fan. I like the things you like about them, too. It's very cool, and still very refreshing. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

I've been listening to Eisley for about a year. When I first got a copy of Room Noises I listened to it for a month straight. _________________ ~Rachel~ "Even when the rain falls Even when the flood starts risin' Even when the storm comes I am washed by the water Even when the earth crumbles under my feet Even when the ones I love turn around and crucify me I won't ever, ever let you down Won't go, won't go, won't go as long as You're around me" |

I do take breaks, I'd be lying if I said I didn't (i hope I didn't say that...). I saw above that you mentioned Midlake. But, now, I am at the point where Eisley has become a standard for me. Anything I listen to that is new, I compare it unknowingly, and I usually put it down, I'm happy with this reaction though, it's helped me truly filter everything down to what my ears are actually pleased with. I am a fan to a few other great bands. But if the question arises of what my favorite band is. I would say Eisley. Other stuff I like: Paolo Nutini, Sondre Lerche, Radiohead, Travis, Muse, Aimee Mann, Patrick Wolf, The Cardigans, Frank Sinatra, Jason Collett, Jeremy Enigk (got him from Sherri's recomendation), Lovedrug, Sufjan Stevens, and Ted Leo and The Pharmacists...A lot of classical music too. |

And good friends of Eisley's, to boot. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |
