the song One More Day with You was on Smallville tonight! it was by Vast, but it was so weird hearing it sung by someone other than Chauntelle.

i am flipping out right now...

I dislike the non-Chauntelle version SO much. It's terrible.

yes, that's what i came here for.
i started hearing those words and chords and my brain was fishing for where in the heck i heard that and then it came to me.
the arrangement sounds like something Ryan Adams was doing circa Love is Hell.
i wonder if Chauntelle was given a songwriting credit or if the Hansons kept it all?

p.s. you might change the title so people will know what the thread is about. Wink

yeah, i don't like it as much. but still, it's really weird to me. i hope she was, cause she sounds 10x better singing it than he does. they should've put that version on there, that'd have been amazing exposure.

How far in the episode did the song start playing? I don't want to watch the entire episode because I just started watching the series. I'm only on season 2, episode 6 I think.

Why should she? People who don't write a song should not get credit for writing it.

it's towards the end, but something really significant happens, so you might not want to spoil it, it's a REALLY big part.

Exactly. Didn't Jon Crosby write it? And I assume that's who performed it on Smallville.

I too hate Crosby's version. Chauntelle singing it is far superior.

Really? Bummer. I guess I'll just have to wait then. No biggy. Thanks anyways. Smallville is a great show by the way!!!

i don't remember any Crosby, but i thought 3 people were involved in writing the song (one being a Hanson at a songwriting retreat) and Chauntelle at least was responsible for some of the elements. if she is she should be credited and get a cut of whatever monies they received. whether or not she is, i have no idea. someone with the Vast CD could tell. i haven't thought about the song in a long time, so i'm not doubting what you're saying. nora is usually on the up and up with these things.

sweet!
chauntelle gets some bling bling!
and remember the episode will be released on dvd so i wonder if they get something for each unit sold?
i forget - they probably structure different deals in the DVD age to cover all various releases, etc.

(poor The Wonder Years will probably never get released because of their vast use of pop music. since there were no dvd's, there were no thoughts season box sets, etc at the time).

i wonder how much they get for stuff like this, or the song on The Hills, but of course, that's none of our business.

i'm a songwriter myself, so it makes me happy when one gets pizaid.
way to go, chauntelle!

Well, even if Chauntelle was involved I don't think she did a major part. 'Cause everything I remember reading was that someone else wrote it. Hmm.
