Explain away all you want, but that was mighty rhetoric, you could whip Sarah Palin in a debate any day!

That wasn't the track they released for the (Red) radio deal was it? there's been no word on backing out of the quick follow up though.

I wasn't particular taken with any of the tracks on the EP, so I'm just waitin around. I have a feeling it will be a .25 center in the used bin in the near future.

All this talk about them ripping satriani has made me listen to Viva again.

X&Y is a much better album, because of its simplicity. Viva is still too pretentious for me to take it seriously. It's OTT. Next time I wear my Twisted Logic tee, it shall be with pride (partly because I missed the chance to get tickets for their recent Glasgow show)

And the fact that their next show at Hampden park is costing £45 - £50 once you add on booking fees - shows me again that they're bigging up themselves too much. I mean, Take That is also that much, but Take That are a proper stadium boy-band, worthy of that much money being spent - i would never spend more than £30 seeing Coldplay.

New Colplay video!

That suggests I'm excited about it. I'm not. I just happened to catch it last night.

I remain as indifferent to album number 4 as the children in this video are, and as "seriously, wtf?" as all the adults.

Seriously, are they taking a pop at themselves? it's so cheesy! Like guess what little puppet Chris Martin sings "and my feet won't touch the ground"? you'd never guess? he moves up into the air! stroke of genius...

Cheese can be good (Take That)... but seriously...

edit: forgot to add the link (Rolling Eyes) - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KiF_zSuqqqw

Frankly, this band is only any good when they're taking pops at themselves. Getting eaten by a robot in the "Talk" video? Sharing the stage with an 84-year-old gymnast for "The Hardest Part"? Absolute genius compared to the overdone angst and self-importance of the videos for "The Scientist" or "Trouble". When they do stuff like this, I can almost overlook the awful hyperbole that falls out every time Chris Martin opens his mouth.

Also, I love that the video starts with a Punch and Judy show. Coldplay support teaching traditional English values like spouse abuse to young children! Wink

this came down the pipeline today:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE COLDPLAY MESSENGER NO. 15 VOL. 1
COLDPLAY LIVE ALBUM TO BE GIVEN AWAY
FREE LIVE ALBUM AT SHOWS AND ONLINE
Hello again. We begin with the news that Coldplay will be giving away a
live CD, LeftRightLeftRightLeft, at every remaining live show in 2009
(apart from festival shows). Starting with the band's first North American
tour date, at West Palm Beach in Florida on May 15th, every fan attending a
show will be given a free copy of the nine-track CD. Also on May 15th,
LeftRightLeftRightLeft will be made available as a free download from
Coldplay.com, for fans everywhere.
According to the band, the give-away is meant as a recession-busting mark
of gratitude to everyone who's supported them: "Playing live is what we
love. This album is a thank you to our fans - the people who give us a
reason to do it and make it happen."
The album was recorded over the past year in various cities around the
world on the Viva La Vida tour. To see LRLRL's tracklisting and artwork,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I would much rather have Pete Yorn than Amadou and Miriam, who I've heard recently, and now know that they do Reggae/ World Music. But alas, that' what St. Louis is getting. Snow Patrol would have been a pretty cohesive show as they fall into our "Copycats" thread schema just like Coldplay. Never made the effort to get into Elbow, but if they any good I would prefer them. And sadly, i'm left to wonder... Of all these acts, with Coldplay's newly expanded sound, it would be a even better fit to bring back the equally expansive Eisley for a few dates in the Midwest and Southwest...

sooo... why didn't Yusef sue the other 3 bands that nicked his melody???

and the quote from Chris about plagiarism was from X & Y, I remember reading it and how he said that Talk was a attempt to mimick a Talk Talk song, and Speed of Sound was his attempt to rewrite Kate Bush's Running Up that Hill

but, Hey I just found something AWESOME, go to Chris Cornell!

I take it you're implying that they are only good for TWO things if I get your drift. Am I right to think of Samantha Fox, or am I too 80's, being that I'm from the Midwestern part of the U. S. and don't frequently read papers from the U.K.?

The case was dismissed with a potential settlement of some sort being negotiated in some way... and via comments a lot of folks didn't know as much about how common that riff was as the ones around here, those losers

THey are one of those bands, where 2 out of 3 singles they put out I don't like, but their album tracks are usually very compelling to me. They are an album band that seems to have the "hit single" format down to a science as well.
