seattle weekly - get your reviewers to stop reading rolling stone for pointers on review-writing. or try focusing in on a few things, so you can give the music you review more than a shallow, cursory glance.

nyt!! hot damn! and hey, they didn't get their reputation from writing bazooka joe comics. what a great little blurb!

Quote:
EISLEY This Texas band of three sisters, a brother and a friend couldn't wait to release an album. Instead it released two EP's in the middle and end of 2003, "Laughing City" and "Marvelous Things" (Reprise). They're fond of chiming arrangements and sweet harmonies — part Cocteau Twins, part Kate Bush, with a touch of sea chantey — and they sing fairy-tale visions of nature transformed and love conquering all. Like fellow Texans the Polyphonic Spree, Eisley finds innocent joy in pop's splendor, and while "Laughing City" is slightly better, both EP's have their charms.

now that's how a review should be written.

thanks for the links Very Happy

i randomly opened my windows media player, and to my suprise a huge (really cool looking) pic of eisley adorned the front. i almost fell out of my chair. there was some eisley article on the main page of the msn thing. its crazy how well-known eisley is getting to be.

awe, isnt that just absolutely lovely???

i hate it when writers just try too hard to be edgy. like i mean seriously beyond being an eisley fan... when i first listened to 'marvelous things' i was totally enraptured by it. it's wonderful... and i mean i would throw no jabs at it.... but it seems every music journalist these days will.
