Post subject: Who Else Wishes American Idol would just *poof*? 36/40
Posted: Wed Apr 08, 2009 6:05 pm I have never liked it, never will. It's a freaking ratings workhorse though. Drat! _________________ yup, that's my name. FOR YOUR RATING PLEASURE: 4 LIKE Buttons, 1 NEUTRAL, 1 VEXED, 5 DISLIKE buttons. LC > FB = personal fave = Eisley fans should dig it |

I've never liked it, but my wife loves it. So although I wish it would go away, I understand the demographic reached, and it is a concept that sells. So I picked choice 3, Let underpromoted artists on indie and major labels compete. But then again, I'm pretty sure Simon Fuller would not gain the control of the musicians that is needed to make this show what it is. Essentially, the signed folks would have to be released from their contracts to go on the show, which I am sure would take some under the table payola arrangement. Because the money is made on the tour and from the record sales and merchandise at least as much as from the show itself. But I am sure a shot on this show would be preferable to the current contracts many musicians have, and would work out in some circumstances. And the level of talent would sure go up. It pretty much sucks, with rare exception, from what I've seen. |

I started watching it a few years ago so I would have something to talk about and relate to with people at work. I don't watch it religiously and have never phoned in a vote though. If there is something else on I would probably watch that. I guess people try to avoid putting a strong show opposite since it gets such high ratings though. The new judge is nice/hot. _________________ I am Torgo. I take care of the place while the Master is away. |

I used to hate Idol, but I'm kinda addicted to it now. Just to think Kelly could be unknown right now if it weren't for the show. Thank god she auditioned. So I'm grateful for the show in the sense that rare talents have been discovered. But I think this year sucks. I don't get what the fuss over Adam is. His screaming annoys me so much! |

Things I don't like about it: -the music tends to sound corny, even if the original is good -the people on there who get signed all tend to do similar music that's made to be promoted to large bunches of people=sounds like everything else on the radio...and then a great number of them are one-hit-wonders with the exception of Kelly and Carrie. -You have to go on there and do pop songs and sound, look, and act like a pop artist...well duh lol...but in other words you can't be "different"; Good thing: -The tryouts are HILARIOUS; like one time this Brit went on there with a suit with all these American flags on it...one other time a mime went on there with her boyfriend lol I always watch the tryouts and end up liking some contestant(s) who make(s) it through...I liked Tatiana Del Toro, and still like Allison Iraheta and some others. I like a lot of reality shows, like America's Best Dance Crew, America's Favorite Dancer (or whatever), and The Real World...I'd like to be one of those people who say "I hate reality television", but I don't The only way to get any show off is to get so much of it's audience to stop watching it, that it stops making money; eventually AI will fall lol _________________ Kneel before your god Babylon!
