I'm sure there have been threads like this further back, but I'm a total n00b, and I'm a major top-5-list-er. What can I say, High Fidelity was great. 1. Just Like We Do 2. Over the Mountains We Go 3. Sea King 4. They All Surrounded Me / Escaping Song (I love them equally) 5. Lady of the Wood (machines are for the birds live version) EDIT: 3. Perhaps something like... (in no particular order) Brightly Wound (yeah, yeah. whatever.) I Wasn't Prepared Ten Cent Blues Ambulance Lady of the Wood Although I hate doing lists like these because my mind could easily change in a few months or so. Oh well. _________________ |

That's tough! I can't put them in order, but here's my top 5 I guess. Head Against The Sky (HATS EP version) Mr. Pine Brightly Wound I Could Be There For You Golly Sandra Honorable mentions: Ten Cent Blues and Trolley Wood I could easily substitute about 5 other songs for any of those 7. Eisley is definitely the hardest band for me to pick a top 5 for. That's a good thing.  And High Fidelity is the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title.

In no particular order... Ten Cent Blues Sea King Just Like We Do Queen of Leaves Lady of the Wood Mr. Pine Golly Sandra Lady Get Away I know that's more than five... I can't help it! I was tempted to put Ambulance or The Valley on the list because they are absolutely wonderful and an amazing step into the right direction of a new album, but I won't "favorite" them quite yet since the new album might have songs even more fantastic. _________________ Previously user holland, 2005. Head Against the Sky Telescope Eyes (original EP version) Taking Control Plenty of Paper The Valley/Ambulance/192 Days I put the last three because the whole Fire Kite EP has a special significance to me right now, so they're interchangeable. Though I do like Ambulance the best. _________________ Do I even need a signature anymore? |

It's so hard to pick favorites. They're all a part of my life, as cheesy as that sounds. Combinations* Honorable Mentions: Ten Cent Blues Silver Bugs** *Iffy on this one. Not crazy about the chorus and the horns near the end, but other parts of the song are good enough to make up for it. **The nostalgia factor gives this song a ton of points. In fact, to make this list I had to listen to songs I hadn't listened to in forever and there were waves of nostalgia. I remember waiting in line at the Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas and taking a trip to Canton, TX with my dad just to see the band. Staying at a motel in Corsicana or staying with Chad after a show. Awkward meetings with forum members. Meeting Ash in Dallas (awkward at first, then much better). Driving from Saskatoon to NYC and catching Eisley shows along the way. I know I've said this a few times on this forum before but... Over the Mountains We Go was the first song I ever heard by the band. I heard it when MossEisley opened for Coldplay. I was immediately captivated. The chorus with the oohs and ahhs just sucked me in. No other opening act has had that impact on me. I joined the forum when I got home from that show. Nostalgia is a huge factor for me with songs as well. And, on another note, I have found that, at least for me personally, meeting people in person that I've known through the forum is 90% of the time awkward at first. I seriously could probably never ever pick 5 favorites. Not even 10. Too many personal meanings to try to sift through. |
