if you're getting the mp3 version of the valley, amazon seems like a great place to buy tomorrow. they have this thing where each month they pick 100 mp3 albums per month to sell for $5, and the valley is a pick for march. just an fyi from a lurker here's the link to the $5 albums. eisley right now is number 100/100. http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1298934764/ref=sr_pg_5?ie=UTF8&rh=n%3A6785 51011%2Cp_n_feature_browse-bin%3A625150011&page=5 and here's the link to the album itself. i seriously can't wait for it to go live. http://www.amazon.com/The-Valley-digital-booklet/dp/B004OM19GY/ref=tmm _msc_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1298567953&sr=8-1 |

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that they've already hit the virtual bargain bin? Good exposure, no doubt. But $5 for a brand new release? Seems like they should have waited a month. Of course it's certainly good for the fans, and if it works for the band then that's great. |

well, would you buy a new release on its day of release for five bucks, or for ten? and bands that do this usually hit the charts higher than those that sell at regular price. it's one of the ways Arcade Fire debuted at #1. _________________ "Die Sonne scheint noch" -- Sophie Scholl <3 <3 <3 |

I'm for them selling it at $5 for a week or so. Gets people on the fence and others who can't afford and/or don't want to buy an album for $10 to buy it. And like you said, it's a pretty good publicity opportunity... I think we need to have Rating Raids tomorrow on Amazon and iTunes. _________________ "I cannot discuss your verses; for any attempt at criticism would be foreign to me. i made a webrip from the Spin stream--I wrote my review of it after listening to it twice--and will buy the album soon. i will probably buy the physical, just to ensure that i get the best quality...but that 5 dollar version sounds tempting. yet i like to hold the physical copy in my hand...but yet, if the album's a success, i'd rather buy the "expanded edition" that always seems to come out after six months. so hmmm...i'm holding out for that! _________________ "Die Sonne scheint noch" -- Sophie Scholl <3 <3 <3 |

It doesn't take much to chart now days. In fact, Cake had a week at #1 with just 44,000 copies sold earlier this year. Taylor Swift had a week at #1 with just 52,000 sold. Just 25,000 albums sold in a week may be enough to crack the top 10 now days. So yea, everyone certainly should buy the album on 3/1 if you haven't yet. |

Most reasonably publicized new releases go on sale on Amazon upon release, usually at $3.99 if they're really pushing the release. The key thing to remember is that sing it's just a digital file, the cost is nil, the production costs for distributing the product don't exist. mister_joseph wrote: i made a webrip from the Spin stream--I wrote my review of it after listening to it twice--and will buy the album soon. i will probably buy the physical, just to ensure that i get the best quality...but that 5 dollar version sounds tempting.

Boyd said they're not doing an Expanded or Special edition and that it would be a waste of time when they could focus on doing some other kind a project. That was on facebook, deep in replies to a posting, not even gonna try and dig it up. Or it might have been twitter. All I know is, I got the impression an EP may come about mid album cycle according to the comment. _________________ yup, that's my name. fair enough, perhaps they'll just bundle the ep with any new pressings that are needed? Nothing wrong with hoping, but honestly, if you buy it, that's one less they have to sell to make it reality _________________ yup, that's my name. I'm getting my Amazon preorder copy in soon (I had gotten it way back, just in case), so I'm going to pass it on to a friend I think could use a little education. I think I'll promote this cheapo download to people, too ... just maybe not as much? Hmm. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

Taylor Swift's new album was the same price on Amazon right after it was released too. I just think it's a thing Amazon does. |

mister_joseph wrote: so how did you end up with the vinyl? I preordered the CD on Amazon way back, then ordered the big pack on the EV site when that was announced. So I'll have like 3 copies of the album when it's all said and done (and 4 if you count the download). So I plan on giving away the Amazon copy to help spread the word. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |
