Saw the gang on Sunday night- my first Eisley show. All I'd heard of them was Combinations which I totally love (except for 10 cent blues). Sad to see there were only maybe 75 people. But they did a great show- was a little surprised there was no encore. Even crappy bands do encores... My favorite was A Sight to Behold (I like that quiet/loud juxtaposition- very Nirvana), but I'm looking forward to the new CD in the spring. I spoke some w/ Christie after her set, and a little w/ Chauntelle. When I checked online after the show I realized I should have wished her a happy birthday since it was the next day. They've been to MKE before, but only as opening act, so it was nice to see them at the top of the bill. I didn't love Ives, especially since the acoustics at the venue were pretty bad. Christie, being quieter, was really good & I had to buy her CD (how can you go wrong for $5?). And thanks to whoever posted the Des Moines picture of Sherri. I couldn't figure out her tattoo during the show & didn't feel like asking her to take off her denim jacket afterwards. |

Sounds like a fun time, too bad about the turnout though. I think they do encores if they have enough time, for their show here they had to be finished by 9pm so they played their 18 songs straight through instead of 16 and then returning for a 2 song encore - same diff, right? Oh, better lower your voice about Ten Cent Blues. Here's a large pic of Sherri's tattoo when it was hot of the presses, i.e. the first public pic she posted: http://twitpic.com/1t7eb8 And welcome to the forum! _________________ http://www.twitter.com/drstrangeblog http://www.last.fm/user/getinline I can't find the time to write my mind the way I want it to read. |

Thanks! That tattoo is sweeter than I could even see and I was pretty close to the stage. The setup for the show was that there were tables and chairs scattered about the floor, but as soon as Eisley took the stage, nearly everybody walked up to the front and stood the whole time (as did I). I had never seen that before. Would have been more impressive if there were 500 people or a thousand! Even when Sherri took off her jacket, she had a white lace dress where the sleeve covered up everything but the bottom half of the guitar, so what I saw looked mostly like a black smudge. Now I wish they'd all come back and do another show so I could see them again. Wanted to take my 14 yr old daughter, even had a ticket for her, but she decided she couldn't stay up that late with school the next day. Oh well, there's always youtube and the great videos y'all post here! |

Anytime you can count the # of people at a show, it's not great... |
