Let me be the apologist...

Titles do not sell records, but Whack Album Covers can Stifle them. I think Eisley's will be fine on the visual side, and The Valley meets my criteria for K. I. S. S.

If it's going to be the song that pushes the album, then truth be told, that makes it that much easier for new fans, And The Press to Identify the record and the band. People will remember it, and it will be that much easier to find. As it stands, Ambulance, Sad, & Smarter don't work as well, though I kind of like Smarter as an album title, it's a bold statement.

How about Typically That's Fine? Smile

Hmm, I have mixed feelings about Smarter the song, but that would be a nice short album title. Hmm.

Hahaha, I have a friend who makes fun of Eisley for "stretching one word out for half a song." Smile

I don't mind "The Valley".

It's a bit simple, but it makes sense... and it doesn't sound like porno... *cough* Room Noises *cough*

I have never thought of Room Noises like that until now and I guarantee I will never be able to forget it.

It's fitting, and works for me. Also, I absolutely love the song.

Yeah the Valley as a title is like a mini-synopsis of where the album came from.

When i think of Smarter as a title, i don't think of the song as much as the idea of seeing a cd in the store that says:

Eisley - Smarter - EqualVision Records (and NOT WB) it just makes sense to me for some crazy reason, like an equation that balances or something Wink

And I feel like someone else made a similar observation about Room Noises or a dirty pun in another thread, but I forgets. I counteract that thought by thinking about the original demo of Lost At Sea as the definition of that term because that's exactly what that version of it was. But, if the gutter is where you want to be, so be it Wink

Shocked I totally missed that. I guess I'm not the only gutter-mind around these parts. Laughing

While I agree that titles don't sell albums, if a band is already established, like say U2 or Say Anything, peple just want to here the new release! But for a band that most buyers don't know it can be crucial! I like the name The Valley, and it would certainly afford Boyd much more latitude in cover design, but Smarter would seem to make someone at least stop and ask "smarter than what?" They would then probably at least pick it off the shelf and look at it! And after all that's what advertising is all about! Smile

The only thing that worries me about The Valley as a title is that it kind of makes me feel like it's going to be the centerpiece of the record, and most of us have heard the song for over a year. I know they'll hopefully be gaining lots of new fans from the release who never heard the Fire Kite Ep, but it still seems kind of an odd choice.

Out of all the other songs, however I feel like it's the best titled. Everything else is kind of literal.

I think we should compile the track list (of the songs that we know of...) and see which ones would fit the best.

Ambulance
Sad
Smarter
The Valley
(Be) Kind
I Wish
Mr. Moon
Oxygen Mask
Better Love

Any others we're missing? I think Oxygen Mask might be a cool name for the new album...
