I remembered where it started but not where it ended ( the gutter Razz ). I'm pretty sure this thread jumpstarted the board, cause. I went & tweeted boardies who were MIA when tahruh started in because I was...just....amazed.

I want to say the Poll Dancing craze came shortly thereafter. Also great fun. if hell is other people, a good snarking is like a shot glass of Aquafina, and this place has that to spare on the good days.

Hayley was on Talking Dead tonight.
Her haircut made me think of Problem Child.

So, largely because of the 15 seconds of Misery Business Mtv used to play to promote bands that were hot at that time in one of their "Buzz Bin" redux campaigns back then, I really hated that song, not having heard the rest of it. I had actually liked the song The Pressure when it came out but never followed up on them. Then mosey down the timeline a few years and I arrive on this hear board and Trolleywood, with no clue about the personal lives of the band whatsoever, and the Paramore loathing is mutual, but for deeper reasons I soon discover in passing quips and jabs.

Well, as a matter of convenience I never bother to listen to Paramore and tow the party line. Plus I never liked most of the Pop-Punk leaning quasi-emo bands that I associate with New Found Glory so getting on the bandwagon that dogged them around here was a matter of form.

But, then around the time this thread hit, Monster was released, and I really dug that song, and that was a surprise given they had lost two members who put them on blast and many credited with writing the lion's share of their material. At that point, Paramore had become underdogs, and for me, a curiosity beyond the controversies involving personal lives that all parties involved, save 1, tried to distance themselves from and make peace with.

That being the case, when the first single from Paramore's self title album was released, I was ready to hear what all the changes they had alluded to were going to sound like, whether they were going to pick up where Monster left off, would this end up sounding like what they were accused of, being a Hayley Williams solo vehicle?

In the span of one video, I was won over, because the song itself was a thrill, what I wished No Doubt ended up doing after the Return to Saturn basically, and the narrative of the video struck a very human chord.

The payoff of watching the video from beginning to end is an indictment of every ounce of jaded embitterment I can imagine. Working with kids, it reminds me of every time a kid out of the blue walked up and gave me a hug, for no reason other than they wanted to or needed one. Their response is never wrong. We could all use a hug.

So months later, when my dad is singing Ain't It Fun out of the blue, confirming the notion I had hearing that song when the cd arrived, that it was going to be HUGE, I embraced the reality: Paramore is a great pop rock band, and I am a fan.

I really like future off the new album, miracles on the 2nd, nothing off the third, and like most of the 1st. The 1st mostly because it reminds me of being 15 despite the fact I didn't like it at 15, lol.

If Van Helsing only shows up a month after the dead rise, albeit they are probably as fleet footed as Boris Karloff, he's gonna have a heck of a time catching up in time to prevent a rampage.

That said I'm off to reanimate some more old threads! See ya in 4 weeks! Cool
