Ok,I know we've indirectly had a minor discussion about APC before but I was pretty shocked so many of you can't stand them. Can I ask why?To me they are one of the planets elite bands and especially now with james iha from the smashing pumpkins and Jeordie white (Twiggy from marilyn manson) joining Josh freese(one of my fave drummers) and of course Maynard from tool they are pretty much a supergroup. The new cd " a thirteenth step" is near immaculate imho

I've only heard Weak and Powerless and it's a good tune but it doesn't blow me away

I like "the outsider" and "the package" the most on the new album

I like APC more than tool...I know I'm gonna get flamed badly for saying that and don't get me wrong I absolutely worship Tool but APC is at that next level IMHO

I just got (read: downloaded Embarassed Wink) Thirteenth Step the other day, and I've been listening to it a lot. At first, I didn't think I would like it, and I didn't really want to, but there are some really great songs on it. Compared to the rest of the stuff I listen to, they're very different, so I was surprised to be enjoying the album so much. Even though I don't agree with a lot of what I've read in interviews with Maynard, I must say that he's a very talented lyricist and singer, and the music is powerful and inventive--a hard combination to find.

I love the song "3 Libras." That's really the only song I know by them aside from occasionally , but in my opinion they're the best rock band out at the moment. And if James Iha does co-writing on the next album....*quivers with anticipation*

I also have to give them credit for having Melissa Auf Der Maur (who's forthcoming album (which I already have Very Happy ) may very well rival Eisley's for best album of the year) open for them on their most recent European tour.

yeah, i liked them, past tense, i just got sick of them. i kinda wish maynard would just leave, cause to me, he is carrying that band, get mad at me all you want, but IMO its true. i cant stand their new album, i loved it for a week, then realized it wasnt pleasing me, and never played it again. i had to take it off my iPod cause when i listened to my collection on random, the songs would come on and piss me off. why listen to APC when i can listen to tool, tool has danny, danny = better than freese...

-ben

PS dont argue w/ me about danny, he is the 2nd best drummer in the universe, the first being god

thats complete crap Ben,Sure Maynard is the focal point of APC but to say he 'carries the band" is just silly...this is a group full of superstars in their own right.James iha played with one of the biggest bands of the 90's with the smashing pumpkins.Jeordie White(twiggy) played with marilyn manson for years. Josh Freese played & recorded with loads of great artists like the vandals/suicidal tendencies/chris cornell/paul westerberg.Billy Howerdel is the only one I don't know too much about. The band is pretty much a "supergroup" like I've mentioned before

Yeah. That cd is unreal. Whoever said that about Danny...yes...he's better than Josh. And yes, he's the best drummer in the world. But A Perfect Circle doesn't need Danny. Their music has much more to it without drums. Also, Josh Freese is really crappin' good. I think he's one of the better one drummers in the world as well. Bottomline, they're awesome. My viewpoint of James Iha is a little different now though that I read what Billy Corgan had to say about him on www.billycorgan.com . You guys should go read that stuff, it's really awesome. He talks about how he came to believe in God, why the Pumpkins broke up, his obsession with Pro Wrestling. Geez Billy Corgan is the man.
