i was just watching the video of the early performance of lady of the wood (i prefer the recent, more upbeat one personally, but i can see why one could be inclined to like the other one more), and it reminded me alot of thom yorke's performance on some webcast of a new song: i froze up. both are hauntingly beautiful renditions that have several "shifts into obscurity" at given points in the song, which is how they remind me alot of each other. anyone else concur??

p.s. i know probably some of you haven't heard 'i froze up', but i really don't know where to find an mp3 of this song, other than regular methods of searching i guess.

I guess the tone of the two songs is somewhat similar, and obviously the instrumentation contributes to that with the simple Rhodes and vocals...

are the mp3's all of good quality?
and how on earth does a site like that not get shut down?

I have no clue, heh... I just Googled "Radiohead I Froze Up MP3" and found it there. It does seem pretty weird that they're getting away with it. I think I'll edit that link out of my post above... I'm not sure what kind of quality their files are. Confused

i hope you didn't take my post as being negative towards you
(i don't think you did)
i shall see how the mp3 is in a few minutes.
although it's taken from a webcast anyway.

No, I didn't take it that way. I just agreed with your sentiments about that site--it seems pretty fishy... Smile

the mp3 worked out fine.
i made me remember why i didn't download it when it was originally out there after the webcast........it's not a very good song in my opinion

Lady of the Wood is much better and i don't think there is much similiarity except for what Ben said

to each his/her own...

i remember most people thought mr. magpie was the better of the two songs from the webcast, but i've always thought i froze up was wayy better. in fact, i would daresay that a fleshed out version of i froze up would be better than most songs on httt, which was pretty mediocre. at least i froze up sounds stylistically like radiohead in their prime, and not the cartoonization of radiohead that happens in httt. but like i said, to each his own.

now... between i froze up and lady of the wood which one is better... hmmmmmmmmmm...
