You know the thing is, NO one ever went to see them when they were Moss Eisley. Apparently, people were concerned that it would be like watching moss grow (boring). But see, they aren't boring, they are FANTASTIC. So, to ease people's fears, they dropped the Moss from the band's name. Suddenly people started going to their shows, realizing how good they are and became rabid (or avid) fans. _________________ "Show me a sane man and I will cure him for you." - C. G. Jung |

Not sure if you guys knew, but all 3 Texas dates with Coldplay were as MossEisley. Coldplay liked the name and were sorta mad at whoever, whatever establishment made them change the name... but then, they really liked Eisley as well. They played hundreds of shows as MossEisley... little dives. Good training ground for humility, hard work and endurance. The real question is: how many saw them as The Towheads? That's a narrow audience, but there are a few on this forum who can boast. Let Down Tourist (Justin Loyd) is one of them. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. yup... as mentioned above by markymark, they were (for the briefest of time) called Sinclair. I've only seen them as MossEisley and in their current form. P. _________________ "Enjoy Every Sandwich" - Warren Zevon "What's Life Without Music?" - The Mermaid Purse www.myspace.com/ptah |

S H O R T • H I S T O R Y 1.) Towheads: First name, but somebody called after a few years and said they were signed to a label...someone called: "Towhead". So, they were looking for something way better and had outgrown Towheads (which means blonde headed or something). Good thing pressure forced a change; they hated it anyway. 2.) Sinclair was short lived...someone called and said they were very established and already had that name... not to dare use it. They actually liked it... my grandad worked for Sinclair his whole life, but..it just had a cool sound...more sophisticated than the previous name. Still, pressure forced them to give up the name...probably a good thing. 3.) Frustrated, they gave up on it and began a new search and turned up MossEisley after weeks of racking our brains. But soon, WB Music attorney's said you have to change the name - Lucas could come after you...would come after you and would win... also a good thing. 4.) So, weeks of frustrating creative sessions dredged up, Neverland.. which actually was printed in a Dallas paper (highly collectible, just kidding)...until the band found out Michael Jackson's ranch is called Neverland. (ahhH!!!) Band members, were, of course, referencing England's - James Barrie's - Peter Pan - novel) That came to a screeching hault and a retraction in the newspaper...(it was literally within one week). 5.) Back to the drawing board. Endless hours and weeks of working through pages and pages of ideas. One eve, Dave called and said, "you have 15 minutes to come up with a name, or you're going to lose out on ads for Coachella....you literally won't be in the publication". The minutes ticked down... frustrations..a bit of freaking out...and Stacy said, " I just think we drop Moss and call ourselves Eisley..." and everyone was like..."hmm, that's not a bad idea. It's more us. And we get to keep part of our name...it's shorter, easier to remember, it has a feminine vibe...(we have girls in the band) and, it kinda has an indie sound." A long pause... pressure building.... and Stacy say's, "if the Beatles made it, why can't we?" (and they were like...huh?) "Silver Beatles". (the Beatles former name). So they lopped off the Moss and the rest is history... (not yet written history). bd _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead.
