Since I want Bush out of office, I will make sure to vote. I was too young to vote when he was elected, so ill do my part to make sure hes not there for a second term.

Just curious. Do you think that Kerry offers viable alternatives, or do you
just hate Bush and his ideas? Not trying to start a political "he said, she said" discussion. I'm really interested in the thought process that leads
you to vote. What motivates you to vote "against" someone as opposed
to "For" someone else.

That's a very well-spoken question. I hope everyone considers it before
just instinctively voting against Bush. I don't really like Bush but, I'm
more scared by Kerry. My question is; Why don't we get better candidates?

I dont really like Kerry either. I'm not too involved in politics - its an area I try to avoid - but seeing as though my future is at stake, I've been skimming the subject.

Although Kerry isnt great, I do find him to be better than Bush. Bush I feel has done nothing but cause problems for the U.S. It may be coincidence, but how did the U.S. suddenly fall into debt when he was elected.

Clinton I think was amazing. The US was financially stable, we didnt have debt, we were at peace...things were good.

I do think that punishment was needed after the 9/11 attacks - but starting a war on terrorism is truely idiotic. Its a war we cannot win. Terrorism will never go away - especially by declaring war on another country.

It's cost the country so much money and I really dont think it made any difference. Theres going to be attacks regardless of how many people we kill. Terrorism is caused by hate, and hate will always exist.

On top of that, he's cut budgets all around the board - especially concering educatiion. Cal States I know are suffering because I'm having to pay for it. Cost of tuition has gone up $600 per semester in the past 6 months and is scheduled to rise another 30%.

So although Kerry may not be the best for our country - I think he's the best we got for the moment.

I hope this doesnt cause any arguments - its just my opinion. I just dont feel comfortable with Bush as president, and I am scared for the future of our country...

Thats all, Kimberly

That's exactly how I feel. I wish I were old enough to vote.

edit - I also wish that the snowball effect didn't exist, and that people had realized how great Wesley Clark was.

uninformed people scare me...Kerry has yet to present a platform, he's entire election thus far has been anti-Bush and nothing more. I'm voting for Bush because Kerry scares me, he can't stop changing his mind and he's yet to provide a plan for anything, all we know is that he opposes Bush. Before you set out to bash Bush look at the facts, the economy is doing great, the war on terrorism must be a priority, Iraq is improving, whether you're for the war or against it, I just don't see what Kerry can do to better our country. Honestly I'm afraid that he might get elected, it scares me. It scares me because so many people are voting for him even though they have no idea what he stands for, all they know is "I hate Bush", this isn't directed towards everyone, some of you have reasons for hating Bush and that's fine, but some of you just follow the trends and have no real reasons for your decision, at least research the candidates before you vote, don't just vote blindly for someone b/c your parents or your friends are.

I know I'm not voting because my parents don't like Bush, but because I don't like Bush.
I can't stand him. Also, one of the main reasons I would never, ever vote for him
is because of his stance on gay marriage, and his reasoning for being against it,
and his wanting to change the constitution to say that they can't get married.
Oh, how equal! Another thing is the incredible deficit. Gahhhhhhhhh!
Another thing is how he seems to have gotten ever country to hate us! Smile
I just don't think he is doing a good job with this country. I will literally cry if he gets back in office.

Now, why I'd vote for Kerry, although he's a second choice against Clark,
I think he will do a lot better job with the war, and will make better choices,
because he has some experience on the field.
I really think any plan to get us out of Iraq is probably better than Mr. Bush's.

That's just my opinion...meh....ah crap, political debate. (runs away)

OK. Let me summarize some of the stances just posted. (Avoiding the
specifics like Iraq, and the debt). You think the candidate in office is
doing a bad job, and that the challeger -even though he hasn't
articulated his ideas very well- will (by virtue of his party affiliation)
do a better job.

How does that work if politics is a battle of ideas? Shouldn't we be
pushing for his ideas to be layed out on the table? I don't buy stuff
soley based on what I don't like. I research the products and make
an informed purchase.

We have the presidents ideas layed out before us, and he's promised to
do more of the same cause HE thinks it's working.

Kerry has made contradictory statements, and has basically agreed
with the presidents stance in Iraq (now that we're there of course)
except for one ambiguous statement: Kerry wishes to involve more
nations in the process. But he doesn't say how. This is the kind of stuff
I'd like to know before I commit my vote 100%.

I guess what I'm saying is How do we know Kerry will do a better job?

I once had a boss of mine say "The devil you know is better than the devil you don't". Shocked

Kerry was "in the field" for 4 months, was sent home after the doctor fixed up his small wound with tweezers, then came back and protested the war, what a hero. Is that deficit harming you at all, do you have any less money, would you rather have high taxed and money taken out of your paycheck? I don't understand why you would want to vote for someone who is promising to raise taxes thus taking money out of your pocket. I don't believe the government is entitled to just take the money I earn from me whenever they want to. The gay marriage issue is just personal opinion, this isn't the place to argue that, but as far as the Iraq and the economy I don't think Kerry is the answer at all, Kerry's only idea for helping in Iraq is getting the UN involved, today Bush announced that the UN should be voting for a policy that will help us in Iraq, now what's Kerry going to do that's different?? nothing.
