So do we have any Mayer fans on this board? I hope so! If you've never heard of him I suggest that you check his stuff out. He is a very talented singer/song writer/ guitarist/ goofball  .
http://www.johnmayer.com I would also like to note that live John Mayer sounds so much better than Room For Squares. I've never been to a John Mayer concert but I was lucky enough to find several live versions of JM songs on the net. Some songs aren't even released JM stuff. i like some of john mayer... not all... sometimes i think he is just a goober. other times i think he is a musical goober. but yeah. he is ok. i'd much rather listen to something else most of the time though. but thats just me. |

I dig. He is amazing live. I saw him and my fav band Guster play together a year ago and they were amazing. I think he is a very talented songwriter. I kinda feel sorry for him and Norah Jones because they have been around for awhile and all of a sudden people are calling them sellouts and stuff. Its crazy. Room for Squares was out for longer than a year before the radio even heard of him. |

But seriously.. if you sit down and really listen to John Mayer he doesn't sound THAT much like DMB. I grant you he does a little.. but I wouldn't say he was DM rip off. I mean... The Elms sound like different bands.. and people don't go around calling them "Beatle Rip offs" now do they? They have their own style. And so does John. But he does a very good job. And it's interesting to hear a "human" voice singing the song. Both things change the song significantly, but it's still undeniably Kid A. Very interesting and well done... in my opinion. But I'm no John Mayer fan. Not because I hate what I've heard by him... but because I haven't liked what I've heard enough to inspire me to check out more of his music. Yeah, I was just waiting for you to say something about Mayer here. I'm not a "fan". I don't own any albums (lemonhead, could you help me with that?) but, from what i've heard he's really good.

Yes. That song is very good! It's in my Top 5 list of JM songs. The intro where he is humming makes me laugh. I don't know why.. it's just funny to me that he is humming. I know.. I'm odd.
