i just got home from the Eisley show about 30 minutes ago, and it was the happiest day of my life. they started with Memories, and then i think it was I Wasn't Prepared. Mr.Pine, They All Surrounded Me, and Vintage People were special treats. Tree Tops, Lost at Sea, Just Like We Do, Plenty of Paper, Telescope Eyes, and Golly Sandra, with a special dedication to good o'l Texas. the last song was Trolley Wood....or was it? The best part is the encore. Blackened Crown, and then, as if God granted my single birthday wish, they played Head Against the Sky. I got Kim, Boyd, and little Christie to sign the lithograph (a steal at only $5), and the band, being so super nice and special, signed it, Weston writing me Happy Birthday, and Sherri drew me a cake with 19 candles on it for me!!! and of course, i got the Room Noises sleeve signed, and i wish i would have bought it there, it was like $20 at Borders....anyway. best birthday ever! My deepest love and gratitude go out to the Duprees and Mr. Wilson for making this the best birthday ever! god bless you all! and go see Eisley! _________________ "You gotta think about a'starvin people gotta eat sand to survive. i was merely going to edit my last entry to say that Marvelous Things was played quite beautifully, and thanks crypticomnius for the happy birthday. And one more thing! i heard from a very reliable source (hehehe) that Head Against the Sky is might be an option for the new cd. so my question is, who thinks this is a terrific idea to put Head Against the Sky on the new cd? i mean, wasn't it it great to hear My Lovely on Room Noises? although the one with all the talking in the background is still my favorite, as is the original telescope eyes. well bye again! _________________ "You gotta think about a'starvin people gotta eat sand to survive. happy birthday! i thought the show was awesome as well. a particularly funny part during the show was when they were singing memories and sherri came in to sing her part, only to realize that the mic was way too high and she said, "you gotta be kidding me!" i love how they make the best of every situation and don't worry about sounding perfect live. _________________ "I was floating in a peaceful sea, rescued by a sinking ship" -mewithoutYou |

I'll post some pics this weekend. I thought the biggest treat was Just Like We Do, but then I always get driven practically to tears by Head Against the Sky. I created something (a poem, if you will) because of last night. Can anyone guess what it is about? Into the deepest pools of blue I fell As I always do at the beginning The most pleasure anyone could have While drowning Hypnotized by nothing that can be named Not wanting to be conscious again Powerless to free myself from their grip Never wanting to be free at all No longer truly in my body It forgets to breath; my heart slows The pain of death draws me back To the body I again occupy I emerge from the pools changed yet again As I always do at the end Waiting patiently for the next glance from The deepest, sweetest pools of blue JD _________________ "Well, hopefully that's our job, to strap rockets onto everything." - Adam Savage, Mythbusters |

As promised here are some of my pics of the recent show at The Parish. Most of them didn't turn out very well because I forgot my camera at home and had to pick up a disposable on the way. I think it was a good disposable too, but I was too far away from the stage to get people framed the right way. I had a lot more than this, but it would've taken too much work to try to photoshop them all to be decent. Anyways here they are: First off Piltdrift, who surprised me greatly, I'm pleased to say, Then Lovedrug, who I saw again on my way home. They truly rocked the house. I got sort of a Muse vibe from them. Boyd sets up for the show. The girls after the show. The boys seem sort of camera shy, in comparison. We ran into our friends Meredith and Megan from the NFG show. And here is SuperDave and me leaving the show. I should've gotten a pic with Clark too. We're like the Three Musketeers at these concerts. We also met Yoe The Terrible again and his lovely girlfriend.
