I got all three talks from my mom and she did very well. My stepmom on the other hand was very brash about it which annoyed me a lot.

do you need condoms yet?
No.
How about birth control pills?
No.
Are you on drugs?
No.
Everything in moderation, honey.

(I was...12?)

I'll never forget the 'drug talk' from my mom.
She said, "You know, marijuana's not really bad for you..."
Haha.

No big talks for me.

Thanks to my parents, I'm addicted to heroin.

Actually, all the info I learned about drugs came from PSAs. You know... "this is your brain on drugs"... "I learned it by watching YOU"... etc. Funny how they don't have similar sex PSAs: "These are your genitals. These are your genitals on sex. Any questions?" or kid telling his dad, "I learned it by watching YOU!" OK, maybe not.

Maybe I'm being pretentious or prideful, but I feel like I was born knowing everything. actually, I think it was my obsession with animals that taught me everything.

...but I am sure my parents talked with me about everything, and I've forgetten that they did.

I learned everything merely by going to public school.

Yeah, we watched a lot of videos at school on these topics. So my parents never really gave me any talks.

I'm gonna take the "let the schools handle it" approach with my kids. Otherwise, what the hell am I paying taxes for? In addition, it's already my job to teach kids stuff. I've already vowed not to bring work home with me. It would be unfair to the kids... and to the teachers. By not teaching my kids I'm ensuring employment for professional educators.

I am still waiting for my parents to give me the sex talk. In grade 8 our sex ed consisted of watching clips from degrassi junior high and discussing them. It was like our teachers just wanted to not have to teach for a week.

As for drugs my dad never gave me a talk but he was always going on about how drugs are ruining society. The subtext was if you take drugs I'll kill you if the drugs don't.

Yeah, I rarely learned anything that I hadn't known before in health class.

We kind of collectively figured out stuff by word of mouth during recess.
