I wonder why Andy would have to replace Joel. They used to both be on there. Joel the announcer and Andy the sidekick. Joel is probably just taking the oportunity to retire. I quit watching Conan back when the writer's strike was going on. I don't know why, I enjoyed what Conan was doing without writers but I just stopped watching and haven't watched regularly since then. Are they moving the show to California? They probably have to since Dave is still on in New York. I'd watch Conan instead of Dave though, I quit watching Letterman years ago.

Andy Richter to Rejoin Conan O’Brien as ‘Tonight Show’ Announcer

By Josef Adalian

Andy Richter is reuniting with Conan O’Brien, signing on to serve as announcer for Mr. O’Brien’s new incarnation of “The Tonight Show.”

NBC is expected to announce the decision later today.

Mr. Richter and Mr. O’Brien entered the pop culture landscape together in 1993, with Mr. Richter serving as sidekick to Mr. O’Brien when Mr. O’Brien took over from David Letterman as host of NBC’s “Late Night.” Mr. Richter left “Late Night” in 2000 to focus on acting.

On “Tonight,” Mr. Richter will not be a nightly desk-side presence as he was on “Late Night.” He will, however, participate in both live and pre-taped comedy bits.

“Andy is one of the funniest people I know, and we’ve maintained a close friendship since he left ‘Late Night,’” Mr. O’Brien said. “We have a proven chemistry that will be an incredible asset to ‘The Tonight Show.’”

What’s more, there’s a practical reason for Mr. Richter to join the “Tonight Show” team. “He owes me $300,” Mr. O’Brien said.

Mr. Richter was the last non-musical guest on the final edition of “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” last week.

Since leaving “Late Night,” Mr. Richter has been the lead in two half-hour network comedies, the critically acclaimed “Andy Richter Controls the Universe” and “Andy Barker, P.I.” He also has appeared in feature films “Talladega Nights,” “Blades of Glory,” “Semi-Pro” and “Elf.” He’ll next be seen this summer in the Fox feature “They Came From Upstairs.”

Mr. Richter is represented by CAA and manager Tim Sarkes.

Mr. O’Brien and Mr. Richter will make their “Tonight” debuts on June 1. Jeff Ross is the show’s executive producer.

yes!
I am a Conan fan, through and through.
He's arrogant and self-loathing at the same time.
His head is so wierd, it's like art.
I love his interviewing style, more than other late night hosts.
Conan wins.

I like Letterman best for serious interviews. I don't think anyone could come close to how he handled Sept. 11, either.

David Letterman is one of the least funny people ever.
Conan O'Brien is hilarious.
So I think this is an easy call.

I personally loved Jay. I thought he was really funny. I had the chance to go to one of the tapings of the Tonight Show last year, which was a really cool experience (even though the guests weren't great). Jay came out to the audience and talked to us before the taping... he was actually pretty funny just standing out there taking questions.

I also like Conan, but not as much. I think he will do an okay job. I don't think Letterman is funny at all... and I love Craig, but I have to be in the mood to watch him.

I do hope to go to a taping of Craig's show and Conan's show sometime.

Oh, and Carson Daly... I just can't watch him. Not funny. When I was leaving the taping of the tonight show, some of the people at NBC were wrangling people to go to the taping of Carson's show... I passed. That said, we had to wait a few hours just to get into Leno's taping on a regular weekday afternoon when we had gotten tickets weeks in advance... and we barely got in (ten seats or so left when we walked into the studio).

Ah, someone has finally broken Spades...

Carson Daily... Late Night Afterthought This is he was NEVER funny, that wasn't his thing. I think they were going for "Hip, Young" and it just so happens he was "Hip, Young" during the most musically unsustainable period of Pop Music I can recall so far in my lifetime. There's nothing Ironic about TRL in the late 90's, no reason to be retro. Where's he Haitian when we need him?

That actually was a pretty funny show.

Red Head was Letterman

Grey receding hairline into a pony-tail was Conan Obrien

I liked when Andy was on the show with Conan! I was very disappointed when he left! I only remember him in one film, so I kinda lost track of him, but I'll definitely start watching Conan more in the future! Smile
