I just heard this song for the first time, and it it just me or is it pretty catchy? I mean, besides the fact it's just a verse and a chorus, and that the lyrics are repetitive, and that Sherri sounds like Alanis Morrisette in the "oh oh oh oh" part.... notwithstanding, I think if it were reworked it could become a pretty good song. Maybe sort of a "radio throwaway" one like Telescope Eyes if they don't have anything else that would work for that on the second LP... although I'm sure they will by then........... gosh, what am I even talking about?

By the way, towards the end during the "everything is normal, everything is fine" part, do I hear Chauntelle singing? Either that, or Stacy's voice has changed a lot since then.

I've actually always assumed that this is Chauntelle's song. I'm pretty sure (BUT PLEASE DON'T KEEL ME IF I AM WRONG) that Chauntelle sings most of the song.

It sounds like that to me, just by judging how their voices sounded in their other songs at the time. I know she was at least a primary writer on it. Just because it's possibly Eisley's worst released song, which doesn't at all mean it's bad. That said, Telescope eyes, Dream for Me and some other songs from the earlier days are the worst Eisley songs floating around there. That's great stuff! I'm rambling. But yeah ... I think it might be her. heh

Surprised That was mean!

Unless that wasn't supposed to say, "Pretender is Eisley's worst released song because Chauntelle wrote and sang it ..."

'Cause that's what it looked like to my confused eyes.

Confused

Hm. I didn't mean that at all. That was a shot at all the Pretender bashing that goes on. But maybe I shouldn't be typing when I'm this out of it. Laughing

In summary: Pretender=pretty rockin' song. Even moreso considering Eisley's stage of development.

(Teddy: Thanks for pointing out anything that might have sounded rude before anyone else read it.)

You're welcome - it's not like it mattered, though ... Chauntelle never comes here anyway Wink

It's on the main site in the old clips section, isn't it? I think that's where I heard it ... but that was a while ago.

how long is the song?
i have a weird mp3. the song is about 3:40, but the track length says 18:55. after the song stops, the mp3 stops too.
