Just so you know about Jonny's guitar part on the end of "Go to Sleep," it's been highly discussed on a few forums that I visit. It's actually his Mac laptop producing the crazy random delay effect. He programmed it specifically for that sound.

Anyway, I chose "2+2=5," because although it cuts off much more abruptly than the others, I don't think it's easy to be the pure energy in that ending. The tension builds throughout the first half, then it just busts wide open and goes from there...

hmm. i thought it was just his delay run (dd6>rv3>line6greenbox i believe) and his cut-off switch that he's put into all his teles.

Nope. A lot of people assume that, since he has so many delay options, but there's no way to replicate that sound with normal delay pedals without being a world-class tap dancer and sound engineer, heh... Basically, what seems to be happening is that the delay time and feedback levels are being randomly adjusted as he abuses his guitar and plays certain phrases. I'm not exactly sure if it is completely random, or if certain notes trigger certain effects, but I'm positive that it's the laptop doing the effect.

From your list? 2+ 2 = 5

I would choose the unexpectedly hardcore freak out in We Suck Young Blood.

it sounds exactly like the guitar effect on the Talking Head's Born Under Punches (which is from Remain in Light [ which is one of Thom's favorite albums])

Yep. I'm not even sure that it's a guitar on the Talking Heads song, but it could be... Sounds more like a strange synth or telephone sample or something. Anyway, good call! Smile

Does anyone have a list of johnnys delay pedals? Last I knew he only had the Roland Space Echo and the Boss RV-3. Though this was during the ok computer era. And yeah, thats a lap top doing that delay. He isn't triggering anything himself, as far as I've seen anyway.

you must ride thom pretty hard about that then.

"wake from your sleep, the drying of your tears. today...

there seems to be some noise in here...

pack, and get dressed..."

that was pure comedy.
