their new album, Third, is epic.
not a single bad song or second imo.
something tells me the dupree gals will love this (if they don't have it already).

that beat on Machine Gun (first single) will melt off your face*, so if you're fragile you might skip listening to it........after your face is melted off for 2 minutes you get a beat freak out and then the synthesizer from Terminator 2 makes an appearance.

you can hear it here:

*in a good way

Haven't heard the whole album but I like this song. Not much music, but the melody of her vocals is great. The beat reminds me of that Marilyn Manson song/video someone posted awhile back, Heart Shaped Sunglasses or something. I'd never heard that before either but I must admit I kinda like that song too.

it's brilliant. very stark and sad. beth gibbons' voice is officially one of the best ever captured on record. i liked dummy a lot but found their second album kind of difficult and too cluttered with sampling. how great is that the sampling thing was passed over for some good old scary synth attacks.

more observations after listening some more:

i can hear Stacy doing a cover of Deep Water.
i think i'll try and learn the song myself.
the last song reminds me of early Eisley.
kanye west will probably sample something - probably the end beat sound off of Machine Gun.

A week overdue, but Radiohead talked to BBC Radio last week and spoken about the recently released Portishead album, naming it ‘their best album’ yet.

Portishead actually take more time to release an album than Radiohead. The gap between the second and third was more than a decade. But, apparently worth the effort when Thom Yorke and Ed O’Brien called ‘Third’ “incredible” and “mental”.

Thom Yorke: “It’s dark as man. Definitely their best record, there’s no doubt about that”. Ed O’Brien commented: “It’s so beautiful; it’s so beautiful in parts. I have to say I actually think it’s my favourite Portishead record.”
