for what it's worth i doubt anyone will take this seriously or not but here goes. im just some smalltown kid from va who has one love/passion and that would be music. the thing is being where i am right now its really hard to learn/grow/find what i should do about that. recently i was reading about this band and i finally bought a cd by them and heard what i rarely hear very often...something i could identify with and truly appreciate. all the bands they list as inspiration are the same bands i love as well. well anyway im askin...i dont know if the band reads with but oh well....im askin if there is anyway even by a long shot there is a way to get on a tour and just photograph it...or learn all about how to work on a tour. basically is there anyway for me to get outa where i am and actually see how amazing it would be to do what they do. like i said i dont expect to hear anything back. well anyway thanks either way a kid with a lot of dreams |

hmmn....not sure how to answer this, but, I can tell you what yesterday and the next few days is/will be like. Band and crew, (the rest of their family), got up and ready around 10:00 a.m. after getting to bed really late coming home from the studio. 11 of us in one apartment, scurrying around, trying to get showers, dressed, shove some food down, Boyd stressing all over everyone to hurry, 6 females to share one bathroom, to the 4 guys to share the other. Get out the door, go pick up trailer from WB lot, pick up sound guy, drive 4 1/2 hours to the venue in San Diego, (one food stop at some random mall food court). Arrive at venue 1 hour late. Unload equipment, set up, sound check, (crew sets up merch, ie., mom and grandmother for this mini tour). Band plays their show after two front bands play. Hang around after talking to fans while crew loads equipment, and merch back in trailer with the help of some of the fans. Find the nearest food place, (Denny's), shove food down, mingle with some new friends that had come along, load into the van, fill up with gas, begin the drive back to the apartment at 1:35 a.m. 12 of us in a 15 passenger van, for a miserble ride home, since it is impossible to sleep with that many people in the van, and the bumpy CA freeways. 4:00 a.m., drop sound guy off at his apartment, drive over to the WB lot to drop off the trailer. (Boyd times himself on how long this procedure takes......14.....no.....a total of 20 minutes from the time he leaves the freeway, till the time he's back on). Back to the apartment, and into bed by 4:55 a.m. That's one 24 hour period. Today, Boyd and I up by 11:00 a.m. Everyone else will sleep till we kick them to get up. Same chaos will ensue as everyone gets ready. Departure time will be around 3:30 to go get the trailer at WB. To The Troubador by 5:00 p.m. Not sure how late everything will run tonight. Ditto on getting everything back in place before sleeping, then us kicking people out of bed to get started on the 6 hour trip to San Francisco. All the same things happen. Drive back to the apartment after that show. Arrive back in LA, hopefully by 7:30 a.m........to the studio for more tracking with no sleep. That's pretty much the way things go. As far as you getting to come along on one of these adventures, I can't say how that could work. I just don't know. Where are you from? You could definitely meet the band at some point, and ask them how things go, but this is an overview for you. |
